Our New York, NY office is seeking a motivated Assistant Bridge Engineer to join our team working on diverse public and private infrastructure projects for State and County agencies.
Responsibilities
- Lead and mentor junior staff (1+ engineers) on technical design and project tasks
- Lead the planning, administration, and design of structural bridge projects, ensuring compliance with state and federal standards
- Conduct detailed structural analysis and design for various bridge projects
- Develop and review engineering calculations for reinforced and prestressed concrete, steel structures, and other materials
- Prepare comprehensive engineering reports, plans, specifications, and estimates
- Utilize engineering software packages such as STAAD, PennDOT ABLRFD, L-Pile, and MathCAD for project delivery
- Ensure timely delivery of PS&E contract documents, coordinating with multidisciplinary teams across various geographic locations
- Conduct quality control and assurance activities to maintain high standards in project execution
- Develop quantities and cost estimates, ensuring projects stay within budget
- Utilize CADD to develop detailed bridge plans and specifications
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of industry standards, code requirements, and client objectives
- Conduct/lead field work oversight, including surveys, data collection, construction observation, and support (RFIs, submittals, change orders)
Qualifications
- B.S. in Civil Engineering or Structural Engineering (M.S. a plus)
- EIT required
- PE license preferred (but not required) or ability to obtain within 1 year after starting
- 4–8 years of experience as a bridge engineer, including design, plan preparation, structural analysis, design, quantity calculation, and construction support services
- Proficiency with AASHTO LRFD, MicroStation (ORD a plus)/InRoads, and structural design software (LARS, STAAD, LEAP, etc.)
- Experience with NYCDOT, NYSTA, MTA, PANYNJ, and NYSDOT projects
- Strong communication, organizational, and team leadership skills
- Ability to work in a team setting
- Ability to independently and accurately complete engineering calculations for reinforced and prestressed concrete and steel structures; familiarity with timber and masonry design is a plus
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office software applications (including MS Project)
- Must possess or be able to obtain a valid driver’s license prior to employment

Pay
$95,000 – $115,000 per year, depending on experience, skills, and qualifications.
