About the role

The Project Engineer will work on managing and completing complex design projects primarily involved with commercial, residential, and municipal structures. They will be responsible for planning, analyzing, and designing geotechnical components of a project, as well as providing support for construction observation and materials testing services.

Responsibilities

  • Manage and complete complex design projects
  • Plan, analyze, and design geotechnical components of a project
  • Provide support for construction observation and materials testing services
  • Perform field inspections, coordinate and manage field projects
  • Review daily inspection reports, evaluate field and laboratory test results
  • Communicate observations and recommendations to clients, contractors, and project teams
  • Use relevant software to perform engineering analysis and develop plans and reports
  • Review project recommendations and designs
  • Train and supervise staff engineers and field engineering technicians
  • Support and manage construction observation and materials testing (COMT) services
  • Conduct studies involving geotechnical investigations for foundations, slope stability, pavement design and earth retention
  • Prepare project documentation including plans, reports and letters for clients
  • Create, prepare and update project proposals and technical reports
  • Stamp recommendations, calculations, reports, letters, and plans created by staff engineers for delivery to clients
  • Attend project meetings

Requirements

  • Current Professional Engineer License in the state of employment or ability to obtain a license in 6 months of employment
  • B.S. in Civil or related engineering field, M.S. preferred
  • At least 5 years of experience within specified field
  • Excellent verbal, interpersonal, and written communication skills
  • Excellent computer skills and ability to learn new software in a timely manner
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Excellent time management skills and ability to meet deadlines
  • Excellent knowledge of current code requirements as appropriate for position
  • Experience with AutoCAD
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and manage multiple projects simultaneously
  • Understanding of construction means and methods
  • Strong mathematical, analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to communicate and work well with a team
  • Increasing maturity and soundness of judgement in decision making and solving project-related problems and managing complex projects

Qualifications

  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer
  • Able to lift up to 50 pounds at times
  • Able to walk around construction sites with uneven and varying terrain
  • Able to work outside in all weather conditions

Pay

$80,000.00 - $100,000.00 annually plus discretionary bonuses
