Project Engineer

About the role

Walton & Company is seeking a motivated Project Engineer to join their growing Construction team. The position offers the opportunity to work alongside experienced Project Managers while gaining hands-on experience with commercial HVAC, plumbing, and mechanical construction projects.

Responsibilities

• Aid in project planning, coordination, and execution
• Support project startup activities such as contract review, project setup, and document management
• Coordinate communication between field personnel, vendors, subcontractors, customers, and internal departments
• Attend project meetings and document meeting minutes and action items
• Track project schedules, milestones, and deliverables
• Aid in equipment and material procurement
• Obtain vendor quotations and coordinate purchasing activities
• Process submittals, RFIs, change orders, and closeout documentation
• Maintain project budgeting, forecasting, and cost tracking
• Support jobsite visits to assist field operations and monitor project progress
• Resolve project issues and maintain positive customer relationships
• Promote Walton's commitment to safety, quality, and exceptional customer service

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Business Management, or a related field preferred
• Equivalent education and experience will be considered
• 0–3 years of construction, project coordination, or engineering experience preferred
• Internship or co-op experience in commercial construction, HVAC, plumbing, mechanical, or engineering environments is a plus
• Strong organizational and time management skills
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office, including Excel, Outlook, and Word
• Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills
