About the role

The Christman Company is seeking a Project Engineer to join their Central Michigan region team. This role offers opportunities for growth within an industry leader.

Responsibilities

  • Produce and organize project and professional documents consistent with Christman standards and risk management standards for the document type to enable team members to readily access necessary documentation.
  • Proactively prepare project documents for close-out, turnover, and archiving to allow efficient final compilation and delivery on schedule, as well as secure all necessary contractually required documents, including safety programs, Material Safety Data Sheet (MSDS) documents for all required chemicals and materials used on the project, and quality control plans.
  • Plan, communicate, and process close-out documents of all subcontracts as work concludes.
  • Accurately summarize important discussions, questions, and decisions raised during regular project team meetings, owner meetings, and weekly subcontractor meetings.
  • Partner with client and architect to establish punch-list contents.
  • Utilize current technology to expedite the punch list process. The goal is to complete the punch list 30 days after substantial completion.
  • Assists the Project Manager with identifying necessary inspections and create project-specific inspection logs according to Christman standards.
  • Provides information on all procurement, material tracking, and inspections to the Project Superintendent.
  • Manages the RFI process and ensures that information is flowing timely to all parties.
  • Updates contract drawings to reflect all approved changes and ensure trade contractor documents update.
  • Supports Project Superintendent by monitoring quality of work and compliance with construction documents as assigned by the Project Superintendent.
  • Aids in the creation of daily reports and the management of all progress and quality photos.
  • Supports the logistics process for all safety initiatives listed in the site specific safety plan.

Requirements

  • Required Education and Experience: Bachelor’s Degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or a related job field. Minimum one (1) year of construction industry experience. Previous internship(s) in construction management or related field will apply.
  • Preferred Education And Experience: Bachelor’s Degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or a related job field. One (1) year of construction project management related experience.

  • Must be authorized to work for any employer in the U.S.

Skills

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
  • Strong organizational and communication skills
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines
