About the role
The Project Engineer will assist the commercial team in identifying applications and providing technical support on sales calls. They will work with customers to develop products and finalize specifications for their applications. The role involves coordinating project activities with internal teams, generating and approving designs, performing mechanical and electrical calculations, and supporting product testing.
Responsibilities
- Aid in identifying applications and providing technical support during sales calls.
- Collaborate with customers to develop and finalize product specifications.
- Coordinate project activities with internal teams, including requirements management, design, project timing, customer communication, fabrication, and component procurement.
- Generate and approve designs in Pro-Engineer (Creo) and AutoCAD Mechanical and Structural.
- Perform mechanical and electrical calculations, specify materials, conduct heat treatments, and determine machining and fabrication methods.
- Develop and oversee the specifications for machine controls (pneumatic and electrical).
- Manage outsourcing of electrical panel work as needed.
- Participate in technical presentations to educate and train customers.
- Develop and implement test protocols and support product testing.
- Provide technical support post-sales, including troubleshooting and change management.
- Ensure all product realization deliverables comply with the Quality Management System (including feasibility, design studies, APQP deliverables as required).
- Support the engineering department on specific projects to foster the company's technical growth.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering or equivalent experience.
- 5+ years of experience in project engineering with direct customer interaction.
- 5+ years of experience with electrical systems and machine controls.
- Strong Machine Design skills.
- Proficiency in 3D Pro-Engineer (Creo).
- Knowledge of mechanical and electrical design principles.
