Project Engineer
Responsibilities
- Preparation, scheduling, coordination, forecasting, resourcing and monitoring of assigned engineering projects.
- Ensuring engineering designs comply with all applicable regulations and safety standards.
- Identifying and correcting daily operational problems and taking necessary actions.
- Recording, tracking, and managing changes and variations to the works under the Contract.
- Collecting information and preparing daily reports on underground mine development.
- Providing technical support, quality, and environmental control of the works in accordance with contract specifications and relevant statutory regulations.
- Scheduling project activities in conjunction with the Engineering Manager.
- Preparing weekly and monthly mine development forecasts.
- Preparing construction and fabrication drawings and supporting construction crews.
- Addressing and troubleshooting daily activity issues requiring action.
- Conducting cycle studies and estimating performance rates.
- Ensuring compliance with legislation, regulations, policies, and procedures.
- Reviewing and determining the technical requirements for change order requests.
- Ensuring all construction is drafted and specifications are determined before associated construction activity.
- Ensuring all work is completed to acceptable technical and quality standards.
- Attending meetings and interacting with client representatives.
- Touring work areas to ensure quality and scope of work is being accomplished.
- Compiling redline drawings to ensure the drawing register is up to date with current as-built conditions.
- Operate company vehicles if required, meeting eligibility criteria.
- Comply with daily, weekly, and monthly safety directives, policies, and procedures.
- Maintain confidentiality with respect to Redpath and client information.
- Comply with and ensure compliance with Redpath’s Policies and Procedures.
- Work in excess of 40 hours a week, overtime, day and nights, weekends, holidays, and shift rotations.
- Perform field level risk assessments.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Mining, Electrical, Mechanical, or Civil Engineering.
- 3-5 years’ experience in a mining environment.
- Project Management skills.
- Strong AutoCAD skills.
- Strong Microsoft Office skills, especially Word and Excel.
- Able to deliver effective results, meet tight deadlines, and targets.
- Knowledge of underground mine plants, shaft sinking, underground mining/development, and mining equipment.
- Strong leadership skills.

About the Role
The Project Engineer provides engineering support for underground development, mass excavation, and construction projects. They participate in planning, coordination, procurement, and management of the overall design and engineering process, ensuring compliance with all applicable regulations and safety standards. Responsibilities also include identifying and correcting daily operational problems, recording changes and variations to the works under the Contract, and providing technical support, quality, and environmental control of the works in accordance with contract specifications and relevant statutory regulations. The position requires strong leadership skills, excellent presentation and negotiation skills, and the ability to work independently and collaboratively.
