About the role
Martins Construction, a Posillico Company, seeks a Project Engineer to join our team. This position is based in Falls Church, Virginia.
Responsibilities
- Track and maintain records associated with submittals, costs, deliveries, and activities on bridge construction projects.
- Ensure the highest level of safety across all tasks and projects, maintain project safety records, and conduct periodic jobsite safety inspections.
- Perform daily quantity reviews with the Superintendent and Job Foreman, prepare progress reports, and notify the Project Manager of anticipated overruns/underruns.
- Track and enter job cost information on a daily basis, assist in tracking productivity, and review project plans.
- Affirm work quality, track completion of work on project plans, assist in creating and tracking Request for Information (RFI) and correspondences to owners.
- Review project specifications, prepare/submit submittal packages, participate in vendor proposal solicitation, prepare subcontract documents, and manage purchase orders.
- Review subcontractor invoices for accuracy and compliance, report discrepancies to the Project Manager, and review and approve material and supplier invoices for the project.
- Maintain all project records and documents, assist in ordering job materials, develop project look-ahead schedules, and coordinate activities with the Job Foreman.
- Perform other related duties as assigned, including visiting the project site multiple times a week to observe, measure, and control progress.
Requirements
- Minimum of a B.S. Degree in Civil Engineering or Construction Engineering.
- At least 2 to 3 years of related work experience in Heavy Construction (site-work, roads, or environmental).

- Self-motivated, detail-oriented, excellent interpersonal skills, and strong follow-through capability.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to meet deadlines, perform effectively in a fast-paced environment, accurately process written documents, multitask, prioritize, and perform duties in a timely manner.
- Highly organized and able to interface and communicate effectively with company, clients, and field personnel at all levels.
Skills
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
- Experience with project management software.
- Strong organizational and analytical skills.

- $80,000 to $95,000 annually commensurate with experience.
