Project Engineer

About the role

PDS Tech Commercial is partnering with a leader in the aviation industry to find a Project Engineer to support mission-critical aerospace programs. This role bridges technical expertise with project execution, guiding cross-functional teams and ensuring successful delivery.

Responsibilities

• Provide engineering leadership to cross-functional teams, including internal and external stakeholders
• Develop and manage Statements of Work (SOW) to support R&D, new business, and ongoing programs
• Collaborate with customers and leadership to define scope, deliverables, and approvals
• Evaluate and respond to changes in project scope, assessing impact to cost, schedule, and resources
• Lead project execution, ensuring alignment with technical and business objectives
• Define and monitor performance metrics to track progress and efficiency
• Plan and coordinate resources across the full project lifecycle
• Identify risks and opportunities, and implement mitigation strategies
• Analyze actual performance against plans to drive continuous improvement and lessons learned
• Deliver presentations and reports to senior and executive leadership
• Support program success through data-driven decision making and reporting tools

Requirements

• Education: Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering, Engineering Technology (including Manufacturing Technology), Computer Science, Data Science, Mathematics, Physics, or Chemistry
• 4+ years of related experience in production or systems engineering
• 3+ years leading cross-functional teams or projects (formal or informal leadership)
• 4+ years of experience using project management tools
• Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, including: Excel (formulas, pivot tables, macros), PowerPoint for executive-level presentations
• Experience developing metrics and dashboards using Tableau or Power BI
• Strong communication, organizational, and analytical skills
• Must be eligible to obtain a Security Clearance

Qualifications

• 10+ years of related experience or equivalent combination of education and experience
• Project Management Certification (PMP)
• Lever Six Sigma (Green Belt or Black Belt)
• Experience in a manufacturing engineering environment
• Familiarity with DoD contracts
• Experience with Earned Value Management (EVM/CAM)
• Proficiency in Microsoft Project or Planner
