Project Engineer
Job Description
This is a great opportunity for Senior Engineers looking to advance into project management by successfully delivering DOT projects, while applying their technical background, strong sense of ownership, and experience working with junior staff.
What You'll Be Doing
- Cook up with discipline leads and technical staff to organize and oversee the development of technical deliverables, ensuring they meet project requirements, applicable standards, and client expectations.
- Assist the Project Manager in developing, tracking, and updating project scope, schedule, and budget, including supporting the preparation of cost estimates, task orders, and schedule updates.
- Monitor progress of technical tasks, flag risks or issues to the Project Manager, and help develop mitigation strategies to keep the project on track.
- Prepare and support internal and external project meetings, including drafting agendas, compiling progress updates, and documenting action items and decisions.
- Contribute to the review of technical work products for completeness, consistency, and quality prior to Project Manager and client review.
- Support coordination with subconsultants, including tracking their deliverables, schedules, and invoicing in alignment with overall project goals.
- Aid in monthly project reporting, including compiling data for financial performance, schedule status, and key project metrics.
- Help ensure that project quality processes and procedures are followed by the technical team, and support implementation of any corrective actions.
- Serve as a mentor and point of coordination for junior technical staff on assigned tasks, fostering collaboration and a high-performance team culture.
Required Skills
- Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering (or related technical field)
- 7+ years of related technical experience in the transportation industry, preferably in Georgia
- Professional Engineer (PE) registration is required
- Background in technical design, including knowledge of state-specific design standards
- Excellent written and oral communicator with experience interfacing with the client or subcontractors
- Delivery experience with Georgia Department of Transportation (GDOT) projects is preferred
Pay
Salary Range: $103,500.00 - $181,100.00
