Responsibilities

  • Designing Electrical/Control Systems: Create detailed electrical schematics, diagrams, and layouts for power distribution, control systems, and equipment, including electrical control circuits and bus bar systems.
  • Component Selection: Select components as required and generate project Bill of Materials (BOM), including SWBD, MCC, Panelboard, VFD control, ATS, industrial control panels, relays, power supplies, transformers, and HVAC.
  • Prototyping and Testing: Build and test prototypes of electrical systems and engineered products to validate design concepts and performance. Conduct thorough testing, analysis, and troubleshooting to identify and resolve issues or inefficiencies.
  • Project Planning and Coordination: Collaborate with project management and product teams to determine electrical requirements and specifications. Coordinate with other engineers and stakeholders to ensure integration of electrical systems with overall project design.
  • Compliance and Standards: Ensure designs comply with relevant industry standards, codes, and regulations. Stay updated on the latest engineering practices, technologies, and safety guidelines. Ensure design packages meet required certifications and collaborate with third-party teams on the certification process.
  • Documentation and Reporting: Prepare detailed technical documentation, including design specifications, reports, and manuals. Maintain accurate records of design changes, test results, and project progress. Present findings and recommendations to project teams and stakeholders.
  • Troubleshooting: Diagnose and resolve issues that arise during the manufacturing process or after project completion.
  • Safety: Implement safety measures to protect workers and the public from hazards.
  • Collaboration and Communication: Work closely with multidisciplinary teams, including mechanical engineers, software developers, product managers, and project managers. Communicate effectively with team members and clients to gather requirements, address concerns, and provide progress updates.
  • Continuous Improvement: Identify opportunities for process optimization, cost reduction, and performance enhancement. Stay informed about emerging technologies and trends in electrical engineering. Propose and implement innovative solutions to improve efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Monitor compliance with applicable codes, practices, policies, performance standards, and specifications.
  • Interact daily with clients to interpret their needs and requirements and represent them in the field.
  • Perform overall quality control of work (budget, schedule, plans, personnel performance) and report regularly on project status.
  • Cooperate and communicate effectively with the project manager and other project participants to provide technical support.
  • Maximize project efficiency and profitability.
  • Prepare periodic progress and cost reports for leadership.
  • Collaborate with the operations department to identify and troubleshoot problems.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering (ABET) or a minimum of 10 years’ proven experience in the electrical engineering field.
  • Three plus years’ experience in electrical equipment manufacturing.
  • Three plus years’ experience in electrical engineering principles, circuits, and systems.
  • Three plus years’ experience in industry standards and regulations including NEC, UL, IEC, and IEEE.
  • Three plus years’ experience with AutoCAD, EPLAN, and electrical design tools.
  • Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate with diverse teams.
  • Ability to adapt to changing project requirements and priorities.
  • Adherence to core values.
  • Must live in the greater Houston area.
  • Ability to pass physical, drug, driving, and background checks.
  • Ability to physically push, pull, and lift 50lbs or more.
  • Ability to sit, stand, and walk for four-plus hours at a time.
  • Ability to stoop and bend for four-plus hours.
  • Alignment with company core values.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master’s degree preferred.
  • Three years’ experience in design or similar engineering role preferred.
