About the role
We have an exciting opportunity for a Project Engineer to join our Major Projects Capital Delivery team in Gloucester, Worcester, Hereford or Ludlow. The Major Projects Capital Delivery team is responsible for delivering major construction, reinforcement, and new connection schemes across the 33/66/132kV network, ensuring the safe and reliable operation of essential infrastructure. Depending on experience, you may initially be appointed at a lower salary until all relevant courses and training are complete.
Responsibilities
As a Project Engineer, you will be responsible for the management and control of project work across plant, overhead, and underground systems. Your key responsibilities include:
- Ensuring Project Safety, with a strong focus on strict compliance with Construction and Design Management (CDM) 2015 regulations
- Managing multiple projects to a recognised project management standard (APM) including forecasting and delivering construction and financial milestones
- Managing project Related Network Risk
- Procurement and Contractor Management, ensuring suppliers meet safety, quality and performance expectations
- Carrying out Senior Authorised Person (SAP) duties
- Supporting the maintenance and problem solving of existing plant and equipment
- Leading on the commissioning and maintenance of protection systems
Requirements
We're looking for a candidate with strong technical capability and the motivation to develop further. You should be able to demonstrate:
- Practical knowledge of protection and control systems, including experience of commissioning equipment
- Current Senior Authorised Person (SAP) status with operational authorisation up to 132kV
- Experience working within a DNO, iDNO or ICP environment
- Taking a leading role in the management of the delivery of construction projects
- Proven background in a high-hazard industry with a strong commitment to health and safety
- Familiarity with plant specifications and confidence tackling technical challenges
Qualifications
You will hold Level 3 City & Guilds 2339. If not already achieved, you will be required to complete either:
- HNC Electrical and Electronic Engineering, or
- Foundation Degree in Electrical Power Engineering
Appropriate training and support will be provided to help you reach your full potential. This may include appointment on a designate basis while you complete the operational and technical training required.

The role requires mobility across the network services area and participation in standby duties according to a pre-determined rota.
