About the role
Molex Application Tooling Group is seeking a Project Engineer at its facility in Bolingbrook, IL. The ideal candidate will lead the design, support, and development of new tooling solutions for various customers and industries.
Responsibilities
- Lead application tooling design efforts using the Product Development Process from product concept through production tooling release.
- Interact directly with product engineering during design phases to verify product requirements and make design recommendations.
- Provide technical support to customers, suppliers, and inside personnel.
- Collaborate with engineering, manufacturing, purchasing, and quality to coordinate project activities using the engineering change request (EC) procedures.
- Distribute engineering workload to Design Engineers and Product Designers based on priorities established by the engineering manager.
- Perform design verification activities to ensure that designs meet customer and UL requirements.
- Review and check manufacturing and sales drawings for completeness and accuracy.
- Contribute to current Molex Quality Management, ISO, and EH&S Management Systems by following stated policies and procedures.
- Multi-task and manage multiple projects, developing and meeting project schedules, along with contingency plans.
Requirements
- Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering or related technical field.
- 5+ years of experience working with electromechanical products.
- Proficient in solid modeling experience to generate 3D models & 2-D drawings.
- Knowledge of reading technical drawings and understanding GD&T.
- Analytical ability to apply logical reasoning, test assumptions, observe results, and make corrections.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills demonstrating the ability to express complex technical concepts clearly and concisely within a team environment.
- Ability to multi-task and manage multiple projects.
- Ability to develop and meet project schedules, along with contingency plans.
Preferred Qualifications
- Mechanical Engineering Degree with Minor courses or degree in Electrical Engineering.
- 5+ years of design experience of interconnect products and/or application tooling.
- Siemens NX 2D and 3D CAD experience.
- Design experience in metal fabrication, stamping, plating, and/or assembly.
Pay
$80,000 - $110,000 per year. This role is eligible for variable pay, issued as a monetary bonus or in another form.
