Project Engineer

An entry-level position in the project management career path.

• Assisting in project management tasks as assigned by the project management staff
• Developing skills and progressively taking on more responsibility

Office and Travel

Variety of jobsites
Flexibility for travel is desirable

Pursuit, Preconstruction and Business Development

• Aiding the pursuit team in understanding prospective projects and requirements
• Participating in QA/AC page turn sessions

McGough Self-Performed Work

• Understanding self-perform capabilities
• Understanding warehouse equipment, rentals, small tools and services

Estimating and Bidding

• Performing quantity take-offs
• Aiding project team in soliciting and reviewing subcontract bids
• Aiding in performing trade scope reviews

Scheduling

• Aiding superintendent and project manager with Critical Path Method (CPM) scheduling
• Learning and understanding Last Planner system
• Participating in daily/weekly work planning

Project Documentation

• Reviewing all drawings and specifications
• Uploading/downloading electronic documents and creating shortcuts
• Drafting and processing Requests for information (RFI)
• Reviewing and processing shop drawings/submittals
• Participating in BIM coordination meetings
• Aiding in obtaining any LEED documentation

Subcontract Management

• Aiding project team in reviewing and processing subcontractor change requests
• Aiding project team in reviewing subcontractor invoices

Cost Control

• Understanding change document types and appropriate uses (CCDs, PRs, ASIs, etc.)
• Aiding superintendent in tracking labor costs
• Aiding superintendent with material procurement and cost coding
• Collecting and reporting cost history data as directed

Project Meetings

• Attending all project and company safety meetings
• Attending foremen's meetings and drafting meeting minutes
• Attending construction coordination meetings and drafting meeting minutes
• Participating in start-up meetings
• Participating in PACE meetings

Post-Construction

• Participating in punchlist process and monitoring progress
• Aiding superintendent and project manager in preparing final as-built plans and documentation

Other Responsibilities

• Participating in company business development activities (client functions, design firm open houses, conferences, etc.)
• Establishing relationships with clients, architects, engineers, consultants and subcontractors
• Attending and participating in project management and other company meetings
• Attending any training - personal and/or professional development - that is relevant to the position
• Attending company-sponsored events
• Supporting and following standard of work
• Participating in Lean events and supporting of the McGough way

• Sitting for extended periods of time at employee’s work station and during meetings as well as while traveling, either by plane or car
• Able to lift up to 20 pounds as frequently as needed to move objects
• Able to write and manipulate computer keyboard and mouse
• Able to hear and speak clearly
• Able to distinguish between colors on graphs and charts

• Occasionally, employee will be required to visit construction jobsites which may expose the employee to dirt, dust, uneven surfaces, outdoor weather conditions and extreme temperatures
