About the role

Kitchell is seeking an experienced and dedicated Project Engineer to join our Northern California region in Santa Rosa and build a long-term career at one of the most innovative and growth-oriented building companies in the United States.

Responsibilities

  • Develops full understanding of the scope and interdependence of all contract documents
  • Observes and records jobsite activity in accordance with required contractual frequency
  • Manages effective document control mechanisms for the project to ensure that work is performed in accordance with contract documents
  • Evaluates change order requests including design changes, specifications and drawing releases and reports status
  • Evaluates submittals of shop drawings, material data and samples and takes appropriate action based upon contract specifications
  • Reviews and processes as-built drawings to ensure that all changes during the course of construction are recorded
  • Reviews the project schedule and assists the project manager in the maintenance of it as requested
  • Manages the request for information process in order to facilitate the timely exchange of information between designer and contractor
  • Aids the project manager in the maintenance of effective cost control mechanisms for the project
  • Completes project close out requirements in accordance with contract documents
  • Captures and follows up on meeting agendas, prepares minutes and follows up on action items
  • Utilizes safe work practices and follows directives, policies and procedures for assisting and maintaining a healthy and safe work environment
  • Maintains effective and professional relationships with owners, architects, engineers and contractors
  • Executes additional duties and responsibilities as assigned

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or Architecture is preferred
  • 1 or more years of related work experience in construction is preferred
  • Knowledge of construction and engineering related processes, as well as industry practices is required
  • Knowledge of the roles and interdependence between the contractor, designer, owner, and construction manager is required
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to build and maintain effective interpersonal relationships is required
  • Proficient with the MS Suite of tools with exposure to other construction specific software like Bluebeam, Primavera P6, Procore, and/or BIM tools is strongly preferred
  • Ability to read and comprehend technical drawings and blueprints is needed

Pay

The annual base salary range for this role is currently $72,000 - $80,000. The Company’s salary ranges are determined by role, level, location, and alignment with market data. Individual pay is determined through interviews and an assessment of various factors, including job-related skills, relevant education and experience, abilities of the applicant and equity with other team members. The annual base salary range listed here is subject to change at any time, in the Company’s discretion, and does not alter in any way the at-will nature of the employment relationship.

Schedule

This position is performed on location at the project site which are all essentially in the Santa Rosa area. Ability to travel for work events and in person training sessions occasionally throughout the year.
