Position Summary
Jost Chemical is seeking a Project Engineer to join our Project Engineering team. This position works under the general direction of the Director of Project Engineering in a cGMP-regulated manufacturing environment operating under Q7A standards. The Project Engineer provides technical leadership and oversight for all phases of project planning, development, and execution, ensuring projects are completed safely, on time, and within budget.
Key Responsibilities
- Plan, develop, coordinate, and direct a variety of engineering projects, including project scope development, budgets, schedules, task lists, goals, and performance measures.
- Manage manufacturing line projects totaling under $10 million.
- Lead small utility projects, facility modifications, retrofits, and improvement initiatives.
- Interpret process flow diagrams and collaborate with Process and Production Engineers to optimize equipment layouts and piping systems.
- Work closely with CAD and BIM (3D design) teams to coordinate modeling, detailed design, and construction drawing development.
- Facilitate projects that support facility and manufacturing improvements while adhering to Food Safety and Active Pharmaceutical Ingredient (API) standards.
- Oversee construction and installation activities performed by contractors and in-house trades personnel.
- Develop cost estimates and project schedules to ensure timely and cost-effective project delivery.
- Partner with Engineering, Maintenance, Operations, and Quality teams to minimize disruptions and achieve optimal project outcomes.
- Cook with vendors and contractors to resolve issues, plan work, and maintain project momentum.
- Identify opportunities to improve efficiency, functionality, and reliability of existing and future facilities and systems.
- Ensure all work is performed according to established safety principles and Management of Change processes.
Qualifications
- Education: Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a related engineering discipline.
- Experience: Up to 7 years of project engineering experience in a manufacturing environment with a demonstrated ability to successfully deliver project-based results. Experience in food or pharmaceutical manufacturing preferred.
- Knowledge & Skills: Strong understanding of engineering principles, methods, and procedures. Advanced mathematical and analytical capabilities. Strong chemical process knowledge and experience. Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications. Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities simultaneously. Excellent organizational, documentation, and attention-to-detail skills. Strong communication and collaboration skills with cross-functional teams. Ability to analyze complex engineering challenges and develop safe, practical, and innovative solutions. Strong project planning, execution, and decision-making capabilities.
