Project Engineer
Georgia-Pacific is seeking qualified candidates for a Project Engineer role in Brewton, Alabama. This position oversees the successful completion of capital and non-capital projects, managing scope, schedule, cost, risk, quality, and resources while aligning with the company’s Principle Based Management and Guiding Principles.
About the Team
The Brewton Mill produces white top linerboard and solid bleached sulfate (SBS) paperboard, used for GP's Dixie plates and corrugated containers. Learn more about the Bleach Board Division or the Brewton facility and employees.
Responsibilities
- Promote safety through proactive involvement in training, policy adherence, and integrating safety initiatives into project deliverables.
- Develop project scope, objectives, and goals.
- Prepare and track project budgets based on scope and resource requirements.
- Create and manage detailed project schedules and work plans.
- Identify and mitigate potential risks and liabilities, ensuring alignment with risk management plans.
- Perform quality control to maintain standards, specifications, and regulatory compliance, including acceptance tests and inspections.
- Apply industry best practices, techniques, and standards throughout project execution.
- Participate in developing design and installation specifications, commissioning plans, and equipment evaluation criteria.
- Manage vendor and supplier contracts, assigning tasks and communicating deliverables.
- Provide consistent project updates to stakeholders, ensuring alignment with project goals.
- Delegate tasks to project team members and motivate timely completion.
- Participate in rotating weekend duty to provide operational support as the project engineering representative.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering or 5 years of manufacturing experience.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook).
- Willingness to participate in rotating weekend duty.
Preferred Qualifications
- Five or more years of project management experience.
- Project Management Professional (PMP) certification.
- Experience with project management software tools, methodologies, and best practices.
- Pulp and paper mill experience.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Project and Asset Suite.
