About the role

The Project Engineer shall develop, detail, and finalize the technical project design, including overseeing most project manager-related activities. This includes producing detailed project-specific documents such as:

  • Process flow diagrams
  • Process & instrumentation diagrams
  • General arrangement drawings
  • Structural drawings
  • Electrical drawings
  • Data sheets
  • Bills of materials
  • Process & control narratives
  • Installation, operation & maintenance reference literature

The engineer will also develop technical design, calculations, 3D models, and drawings of ASME Pressure Vessels as part of a multi-discipline design team. All work must comply with company standards, the project proposal, and the customers’ specifications or input.

Responsibilities

  • Lead all other Engineering Groups (process, instrumentation, controls, design & drafting, vessels, and purchasing) in performing tasks required to support the production of the final product.
  • Manage the project by coordinating logistical particulars with the customer and all other departments within Enerflex.
  • Interface with the Enerflex Applications Team, Engineering Team, and customers to:
    • Hand over all data used for estimating and understand project background.
    • Identify customer requirements and bring effective solutions.
    • Coordinate technical issues, answer technical comments, and handle deviation requests.
    • Attend internal and external meetings (kick-off, coordination, HAZOP, etc.).
  • Lead internal design activities and technical decisions to support the project:
    • Develop project P&IDs and requisition all major equipment.
    • Participate in all aspects of design review with the project team.
    • Ensure proper understanding of the customer’s technical needs inside Enerflex.
    • Generate the engineered Bill of Material for assigned project items.
    • Develop process description narratives and assemble associated IOM literature.
  • Lead the Quality Assurance program for Enerflex-designed products:
    • Ensure accuracy of job quality requirements.
    • Perform P&ID walk-down of the final package to ensure compliance with design.
  • Own the planning of all engineering activities:
    • Manage and schedule the drawing list submitted to the customer.
    • Follow up on technical issues through shipment and commissioning as needed.
    • Manage and control engineering hours allocated to the job.
    • Support correct scheduling and monitor the progress of vendor drawings.
  • Support and interface with other company functions:
    • Project Management: Report on engineering issues and progress for all assigned items.
    • Design & Drafting: Coordinate and approve all design & drafting deliverables.
    • Project Engineering: Technical interface with suppliers to obtain quotations for all assigned items.
    • Purchasing: Technical interface with buyers to confirm BOM accuracy for all assigned items.
    • Manufacturing: Technical interface with shop personnel for all assigned items.
    • Quality: Identify all testing specifications and sign off on all testing activities.
    • Service: Support activities for installation, commissioning, and startup needs.

Requirements

  • Engineering or Engineering Technology degree and/or an equivalent background.
  • Minimum of 5 years’ industry-related experience.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience developing pressure vessel design calculations using code calculation software (Compress or PV Elite) as part of designing new units.
  • Extensive experience and knowledge in designing ASME Pressure Vessel (Sec. VIII) Code.
  • Basic knowledge of the fundamentals required by the equipment used in our products:
    • Mechanical Design
    • Thermodynamics
    • Chemistry
    • Instrumentation & Controls
  • Experience with packaging condensate stabilizers, amine units, TEG, Cryo’s, etc.
