Roles and Responsibilities

  • Perform project stakeout utilizing both GPS and traditional survey methods.
  • Prepare, distribute, and monitor construction submittals and project RFIs.
  • Perform detailed quantity take-offs and work with vendors to order project materials.
  • Assist Project Manager with subcontractor management to include scheduling, monitoring work progress, and monthly payment.
  • Maintain project progress through daily record keeping and monthly schedule updates using Primavera P6.
  • Develop and implement project specific Maintenance of Traffic plans.
  • Suggest Value Engineering proposals to project owners as appropriate.

About the role

The Project Engineer will work alongside Project Managers and Superintendents to ensure successful on-time and on-budget completion of heavy civil construction projects.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering, construction management, or a related field preferred; recent graduates are encouraged to apply.
  • 0–5 years of project engineer, assistant project manager, construction, internship, or related experience.
  • Willingness to work outside in all weather conditions and participate in occasional nighttime and weekend work.
  • Ability to read and interpret construction plans and specifications.
  • Strong attention to detail and organization.
  • Good communication skills including both verbal and written to a variety of occupational skill sets.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively with guidance from senior team members.
  • Preferred Qualification: Knowledge of CPM scheduling methods including Primavera P6
  • Preferred Qualification: Familiarity with VDOT Specification and Standards
