About the role
Cumming Group is a project and cost management consultancy with over 60 offices globally, ranked among the top 10 in ENR. We are seeking a Project Engineer based in Alhambra, CA, to support Parks & Rec projects for the Los Angeles County Department of Public Works.
Responsibilities
- Affiliate with the top Project Manager on-site to formulate the design, bid, and Project phase scheduling of the assigned project(s).
- Provide update/status reporting for work in progress including costs and schedules.
- Assist in the Addenda and Bid process.
- Administer Project sub-contracts.
- Under the supervision of Project Manager(s) facilitate job site meetings and prepare meeting minutes.
- Maintain accurate records.
- Under supervision of Project Manager(s) conduct close out activities and assist with building occupancy.
- Assist the project management team with various parts of the project such as constructability review, value engineering, pay app reviews, schedule development, and execution.
- Under supervision of Project Manager, conduct pre-bid and job start meetings.
- Monitor contract compliance and report concerns to Project Manager.
- Under the supervision of Project Manager, facilitate job site meetings and prepare meeting minutes.
- Oversee approvals from applicable government agencies are received and documented.
- Under supervision of Project Manager, conduct close out activities and assist with building occupancy.
- Prepares field reporting for review by Project Manager.
- Performs QA/QC process.
- Reviews change orders for completeness and conformance to company and client standards.
- Reviews RFIs/Submittals for completeness before distribution to design team.
- Performs basic CPM scheduling and budget management.
- Reviews and maintains As Built drawings.
Requirements
- Experience with Job Order Contracting (JOC) project delivery methods.
- Ability to facilitate site meetings and prepare meeting minutes.
- Ability to communicate with various stakeholders, internal and external to the company.
- Demonstrate an understanding of how project documentation impacts the project flow.
- Ability to read blueprints.
- Utilize effective written and oral communication skills.

Preferred Education & Experience
- Bachelor's Degree in Construction Management, Architecture, Engineering, Project Management, or related field.
- 3-5 years of prior experience in project construction management.
- Prior experience with JOC project delivery method highly preferred.
- Prior experience with public contracting process and procedures highly preferred.
Benefits
