Project Engineer
About the role
The Project Engineer will play a pivotal part in the successful execution of projects and delivery of hardware to NASA/JSC in support of exploration missions. The role involves supporting the Research Operations and Integration (ROI) hardware in SF4, providing support services to payload developers, reducing technical and schedule risk, and serving as the hardware expert and technical point of contact for the Project Manager.
Responsibilities
- Strategize, oversee, and participate in hands-on development activities
- Write Task Performance Sheet and Disposition of Discrepancy Reports
- Generate, review, and understand engineering drawings
- Analyze test results, produce detailed reports, and recommend design improvements
- Support Human-In-The-Loop testing
- Cook up multiple highly technical and complex development threads within the context of and in pursuit of the success of larger projects
- Distill high-level project goals into discrete project tasks to ensure project successful completion on schedule
Requirements
- You bring experience in component fabrication, hardware assembly, testing of subassemblies and major assemblies
- You use your experience to troubleshoot hardware assemblies, test setup, optimize processes for manufacturing
- You will also perform root cause analysis, failure investigation, risk management, and apply lessons learned
- You comply with KBR’s Safety, Health and Environmental Plan, Quality Plan, and all safety policies and procedures, and complete all assigned training
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in a related engineering field
- Minimum of 5 years of experience
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in development of space hardware design or similar work with Human Landing System or other NASA/JSC exploration programs (e.g. Orion)
- Experience with configuration and data management processes and submitting Change Requests
- Experience with manufacturing, test, and troubleshooting of hardware
- Experience with root cause analysis and failure investigation
Skills
- Effective communication with the project, other engineers, technical support staff, NASA vendors, and quality engineering
- Able to work effectively with minimal supervision
- Able to work in a team environment
- Able to develop and clearly communicate information to technical forums
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to develop and test space related hardware
- Develop and maintain project documentation, including project reports and technical memos
- Familiarity with NASA Flight Hardware development requirements and processes
- Effective at handling multiple tasks, flexible, and responding quickly to change
Pay
$83,000 - $98,000
Schedule
This position is expected to be 100% on site and in person. Occasional travel may be required.
