Project Engineer
Position Summary
The Project Engineer supports our Account Executives in the Pacific Northwest. This position assists with equipment selection, system design, & costing/bid prep across all AirReps product offerings. When projects are awarded, the Project Engineer will assist with the submission, order and delivery of equipment. The Project Engineer will also manage, plan and coordinate activities of projects to ensure goals and objectives of projects are accomplished within prescribed timeframe and funding parameters.
Position Responsibilities
- May include:
- HVAC systems design and application of our manufacturer’s product lines
- Problem solving using basic mechanical engineering principles & equations
- Troubleshooting to help solve field problems
- Equipment selection using software & pricing programs
- Thorough understanding of local & national codes/standards that apply to our industry & affect our equipment
- Understanding & staying up on industry trends as it relates to systems & equipment we sell
- Sales support, including giving general & job specific presentations
- Design support to include: accommodating all customer design criteria, trade coordination/fitment, budget pricing, energy analysis & life cycle costing
- Basis of design support to include: generating schedules, plans, & specification
- Uses project plans and specifications to develop pricing for bids, as well as manages bid and submittal preparation for plan and specifications, design-build and miscellaneous jobs.
- Assist with job take-offs and estimating.
- Bid preparation to include: costing of equipment to match plans/specs, optimizing of costs & competitive analysis, proposal preparation as it relates to inclusions & exclusions
- Field installation/commissioning coordination support
- Reviews project proposal or plan to determine time frame, funding limitations, procedures for accomplishing projects, staffing requirements, and allotment of available resources to various phases of projects
- Takes part in jobsite, or office meetings, w/ customers to discuss equipment & solutions to problems
- Prepares project reports for management, client, or others
- Confers with project personnel/contractor to provide technical advice and resolve problems
- Set up new jobs, and maintain all job information/status, in CRM and SharePoint, as needed
- Records and tracks order acknowledgement and terms of sale to the customer
- Coincides with shipping schedule, as well as coordinates shipments and deliveries of product to jobsites
- Affords technical requested assistance during startup preparations
- Resolves discrepancies in job progression to ensure client satisfaction

Knowledge & Skills
- Basic understanding of mechanical engineering principles as they relate to HVAC is a must
- Ability to read plans & specifications is key
- Ability to form equations to solve engineering & science problems
- Sound fundamentals in science & math
- Proficient at Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook and other Office Suite programs
- Ability to work in selection software & skilled with the internet
- Proficiency in Bluebeam is a plus
- Ability to read, analyze, and interpret common scientific and technical journals
- Superior analytical and problem-solving skills and ability to write technical responses; attention to detail
- Effective organizational and time management skills; prioritizing and multi-tasking
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively, both independently and as part of a team
- Strong interpersonal skills and collaboration skills
- Effective verbal and written communication skills including presentation skills in front of a group of people
- Ability to communicate answers/solutions to customers is a must
- Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of variables in situations where only limited standardization exists
- Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, verbal, diagram, or schedule form
Experience
3 to 5 years of previous work experience in Project Engineering field
Education/Certification
Bachelor's of Science degree (BS) in engineering (mechanical preferred)
People Management

May carry materials weighing up to 20 pounds
Construction site visits are required from time to time
