Project Engineer- Anchorage, AK

Duties/Responsibilities

  • Responsible for observation and reporting on assigned projects to government personnel.
  • Oversees construction, contract administration, and quality assurance activities in accordance with established policies, procedures, and regulations.
  • Analyzes design and construction issues with respect to contract requirements.
  • Delivers recommendations regarding compliance to contract provisions and exercises engineering judgment to assist in the development of solutions between conflicting plan details or requirements which become evident as construction progresses.
  • Make technical interpretations of drawings and specifications; provide engineering determinations on meeting the contract requirements.
  • Reviews submittals, respond to contractor questions, RFIs, construction deficiencies, project issues, requests for equitable adjustment, and claims.
  • Assist in preparing documents for change orders and claims.
  • Reviews schedule items and pay applications to ensure balance with percentages for each corresponding work feature or component of work.
  • Reviews contractor's submittals including QA and Safety Plans.
  • Provides field surveillance and delivers detailed daily reports.
  • Reviews drawings and specifications.
  • Aids in preparation of scope of work modifications and cost estimates.
  • Provides safety oversight.
  • Utilizes Resident Management System (RMS).

Requirements

  • Must be a US Citizen and must pass a federal background review and drug screen.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Architecture, Construction Management, or a related field required.
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience on large complex multimillion dollar federal construction projects, preferably USACE and/or Department of Defense.
  • Experience with vertical construction projects, including administrative buildings, barracks, and other commercial or institutional facilities, with working knowledge of electrical, mechanical, HVAC, roofing, and general building construction.
  • Current Professional Engineer license is preferred.
  • Experience with Three-Phase QC/Inspection process.
  • Experience preferred EM 385-1-1 USACE Safety Manual.
  • Experience with Resident Management System (RMS).
  • Ability to obtain and maintain access to military installations.
