About the Role

Lead and execute all aspects of capital projects, from concept through validation. Leverage experience and utilize expertise to drive continuous improvements, propose process changes, and partner with management to develop best practices for the engineering department and company.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and execute all aspects of capital projects including planning, schedule, design, specification, cost estimate, justification, installation/construction, commissioning, and qualification of projects with large scope and importance.
  • Develop and implement “State of the Art” processes, equipment, and facility technologies to increase capabilities, improve quality, increase productivity, reduce costs, and reduce safety risks.
  • Execute engineering projects with unique or controversial problems that have an important effect on major company initiatives, including the development and maintenance of products, equipment, and facilities.
  • Perform work involving diversified engineering principles and practices, leading to unique solutions.
  • Make independent decisions on engineering problems and methods, including discussions with customers.
  • Benchmark equipment and facilities against industry best practices and recommend strategies for continuous improvement.
  • Provide expertise in project management, capability, and design of equipment and facilities.
  • Interface with external contractors, vendors, engineering companies, and design firms.
  • Write SOPs, equipment installation and operational qualification protocols, summary reports, technical reports, and capital justification reports.
  • Develop specifications for process equipment and facilities.
  • Write equipment operating instructions, lockout/tagout procedures, and preventative maintenance procedures.
  • Communicate effectively with associates, engineers, supervisors, product development scientists, and other team members.
  • Align independent actions with overall business strategies and priorities.
  • Participate in and assist with training where applicable.
  • Collaborate in the development of new products, processes, equipment, and facilities.
  • Participate in problem-solving and take initiative to make improvements using proper change control procedures.
  • Assist in technology transfer between facilities or similar equipment.
  • Conduct all aspects of the position professionally and respectfully, embracing 6S LEAN culture.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • B.S. degree in Engineering.
  • Minimum of 10 years of related experience.
  • PMP certification preferred.
  • Self-starting team player capable of handling multiple and changing priorities.
  • Strong problem-solving, decision-making, and project management skills.
  • Good verbal and written communication skills in English.
  • Ability to tolerate odors and noise associated with manufacturing operations.
  • Willingness to travel throughout manufacturing areas, buildings, and campus for equipment and facility observations.
  • Ability to travel to customer and vendor facilities as required.
  • Flexible work schedule accommodation.
  • Computer literate; proficiency in MS Office and AutoCAD is a plus.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with mixing, coating, drying, web handling, or slitting operations and equipment.
  • GMP experience.
  • Product development and technology transfer experience.
  • Experience with environmental, zoning, and safety regulations.
