Position Summary
The Project Engineer supports the successful execution of civil construction projects by assisting the Estimating Team, Project Manager, Superintendent, and field teams. The Project Engineer acts as a critical link between the office and the field, coordinating technical information, documentation, schedule updates, and communications.
Key Responsibilities
- Affix ongoing changes, issues, and project needs throughout the job lifecycle, ensuring alignment on schedules, scope, and project challenges.
- Collaborate with the Project Manager and the Superintendent to maintain the project schedule, including the overall schedule and the three-week schedule on a weekly basis.
- Bridge the gap between estimating and the course of construction by validating IFC (Issued for Construction) plans, quantities, and assumptions, including processing contract true-ups based on IFC drawings and field conditions.
- Affix change orders and contract true-ups throughout the project.
- Manage submittal process – compile, prepare, submit, track and ensure approval in a timely manner.
- Manage RFI process – work with Project Manager to prepare and submit RFI’s, track and ensure, closure in a timely manner.
- Affix material sourcing and procurement in coordination with the Project Manager and Estimator.
- Affix One-Call updates and dig permit coordination to ensure safe field operations.
- Manage GPS topos including pre-construction, progress, and as-built surveys.
- Compare GPS models (provided vs. actuals) to calculate and verify quantities.
- Compile survey data and process it into usable information for project tracking and verification.
- Maintain FAA Part 107 Drone License and conduct UAV operations as required.
- Affix layout, surveying, and quantity take-offs for materials.
- Maintain project logs. (Quantity tracker, Submittal logs, RFI logs, etc.)
- Affix progress meetings, preparing agendas, meeting minutes, and follow-up action items.
Qualifications
- 1–3 years of experience in civil construction (internship experience may be considered).
- Strong understanding of civil construction methods, materials, and standards.
- Proficiency in Magnet/Topcon Office and construction management software preferred but not required (Procore, Acumatica, Primavera P6, MS Project, Microsoft 365, or similar).
- FAA Part 107 Drone License (required or ability to obtain within 6 months).
- Excellent communication, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
- Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and specifications.
- Must be able to travel full-time.
