Project Documentation Advisor
About the role
We are seeking a detail-oriented Technical Editor/Writer with 2 to 6 years of experience to support the development of clear, accurate, and professional technical documents for infrastructure projects. In this role, you will work with project managers, engineers, and technical teams to edit specifications, reports, proposals, and other project deliverables. This position is well suited for someone who enjoys writing, editing, organizing information, and helping technical teams communicate complex information in a clear and client-focused way.

Responsibilities
- Specification Editing: Assist with reviewing and editing technical specifications for clarity, consistency, grammar, formatting, and organization. Support project teams in preparing documents that communicate project requirements clearly.
- Document Standards and Formatting: Apply client, company, and project formatting standards to technical documents, including reports, specifications, proposals, forms, and other deliverables.
- Team Coordination: Work with project managers, engineers, and technical staff to collect input, clarify edits, track comments, and support document updates through review and delivery.
- Technical Writing and Editing: Draft, edit, and revise technical content for proposals, reports, specifications, and project communications under the direction of project leads and senior team members.
- Accessibility and Document Compliance: Support document accessibility, formatting, and digital compliance efforts by applying established standards and assisting with document checks and revisions.
- Quality Review: Review documents for spelling, grammar, formatting, consistency, missing information, and coordination issues before internal or client delivery.
- Document Control Support: Assist with document revisions, file organization, version tracking, and project recordkeeping using company and project-specific tools.
Qualifications
- Familiarity with technical documents, project deliverables, specifications, reports, proposals, or client-facing documents is helpful but not required.
- Strong grammar, proofreading, editing, and document organization skills, with the ability to make technical information clear and easy to follow.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and Adobe Acrobat. Experience with Bluebeam Revu, SharePoint, Aconex, SpecLink, SpecsIntact, or similar tools is a plus.
- Interest in learning engineering, construction, environmental, or infrastructure terminology and applying that knowledge to technical documents.
- Ability to work with project managers, engineers, and technical teams, ask thoughtful questions, incorporate feedback, and meet deadlines.
- Ability to manage multiple assignments, track revisions, follow instructions, and maintain accuracy and consistency in documents.
Education & experience
- Education: Bachelor's degree in English, Technical Communication, Communications, Engineering, Construction Management, or a related discipline preferred. Equivalent education and relevant experience will also be considered.
- Experience: Minimum 4 years of experience in technical writing, editing, document production, communications, or a related role. Experience supporting engineering, construction, environmental, infrastructure, or professional services projects is preferred.
Pay
$41.00 – $68.00 per hour based on location and experience.
