Project Director - Transportation

POSITION OVERVIEW

As a Project Director at LJA Engineering in our Transportation Sector, you will lead the group’s operations and Business Development within the Houston and Texas market area. You will continue to grow the TXDOT - NEPA service line within the market area and lead and manage a team of Senior Project Managers, Project Managers, and junior staff, including mentoring, training, and performance reviews. You will oversee large, complex, and/or high-profile projects, ensuring completion within scope, schedule, and budget. You will develop, review, and maintain standard operating procedures (SOPs) and report formats; review and edit technical reports. You will serve as the primary client liaison, providing consulting services, managing client relationships, negotiations, collections, and issue resolution. You will support business development efforts, including proposal preparation, budgeting, marketing event participation, and growth with existing and potential clients. You will be accountable for the financial performance of the organization unit, including profitability, expenses, revenue forecasting, projections, and budget development in collaboration with Vice Presidents.

REQUIRED EDUCATION/LICENSE/CERTIFICATIONS

• Minimum Bachelor of Science, Master’s preferred, in one of the following or related fields: Environmental Sciences, Marine Biology, Rangeland Ecology, Ecology, Soil Science, Geography
• Must be pre-certified with TxDOT in a number of NEPA and other categories

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

• Working knowledge of NEPA processes including permitting and mitigation
• Strong communication skills and Ability to build strong relationships
• 20+ years of experience with TxDOT and other local agencies in the Houston Region and across the state of Texas
