About the Role

Hayden Industrial, a leading manufacturer of industrial cooling systems, is seeking a Project Cost Manager to oversee project cost control functions. This role ensures projects are completed within approved budgets and financial targets by managing cost planning, forecasting, reporting, and financial analysis. The Project Cost Manager coordinates with project managers, finance, supply chain, and stakeholders to optimize project financial performance and minimize risks.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage all project cost control activities
  • Develop and maintain project budgets and forecasts
  • Monitor project expenditures and commitments against approved budgets
  • Analyze cost variances and recommend corrective actions
  • Prepare weekly and monthly cost performance reports for management
  • Oversee invoice verification, cost coding, and budget allocations
  • Coordinate with project managers, procurement, sales, and finance departments
  • Ensure compliance with company financial policies and project control procedures
  • Identify financial risks and implement mitigation strategies
  • Support project planning, scheduling, and resource forecasting
  • Review change orders and contract variations for cost impact
  • Manage and mentor cost controlling team members
  • Assist with audits and financial closeout processes
  • Improve cost control systems, reporting tools, and operational efficiency

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Engineering, Construction Management, or related field
  • 7+ years of experience in project cost control, project finance, or project controls
  • Previous leadership or supervisory experience
  • Strong knowledge of budgeting, forecasting, and cost analysis
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook); experience with ERP systems (e.g., Glovia) is a plus
  • Excellent analytical, leadership, and communication skills

This position includes supervisory responsibilities.

Work Environment

This job primarily operates in a professional office environment using standard office equipment. When in the manufacturing facility, all employees are required to wear personal protective equipment, including hearing protection, safety glasses with side shields, and OSHA-compliant safety boots/shoes.

Physical Demands

  • Remain stationary for long periods while operating a computer and other office machinery
  • Occasionally move about inside the office to access filing cabinets and operate office machinery
  • Lift or move objects up to 25 pounds
  • Occasionally visit the shop, which is a non-temperature-controlled environment with loud noises, dust, dirt, and metal particles associated with metal fabrication

Schedule

This is a full-time position, Monday through Friday, 7:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Occasional evening and weekend work may be required as job duties demand.
