Project Controls Manager - Construction (Denver)

About the role

The Project Controls Manager is responsible for leadership, direction, management and performance of a project controls department. The position ensures that the reporting systems for project controls, the project controls roles and staff, and the tools used in project controls are developed, available, and functioning according to Enterprise Project Management Center of Excellence requirements.

Responsibilities

• Assure that reporting systems for project controls, roles, and staff are developed, available, and functioning according to Enterprise Project Management Center of Excellence requirements.
• Manage and perform complex aspects of individual project estimating, scheduling, change documentation, and cost control.
• Support Project Managers and Project Directors on projects and programs of varying size and complexity.
• Lead and direct the organization that provides reviews of the project controls status (cost, contract, WBS, schedule, resource, etc.).
• Coach and mentor Project Controls Specialists.
• Develop and implement effective scheduling reports, cost reports, cash flow reports, and forecasts for multiple projects.
• Develop and manage a reporting data warehouse to produce valuable program controls reports and data for multiple large projects.
• Recruit, develop, train, retain, and evaluate the performance of the project controls team.
• Develop and implement project execution plans.
• Support the recruitment, development, training, retention, and evaluation of the project controls team.
• Lead the review of upstream (prime contract) / downstream (purchase orders & subcontract) change orders.
• Analyze and validate cash flow reports.
• Lead Interactive Project Planning Meetings (IPPM).
• Present Project Controls reporting.
• Lead and direct schedule management involving critical path method scheduling techniques, estimating, project cost management, forecasting, and document control for multiple projects.
• Provide recommendations on schedule workarounds and mitigation efforts to the team.
• Validate the accuracy of earned value management system reporting.
• Analyze and validate progress curves.

• Oversee the risk management process by identifying and mitigating risk potentials to the project.
• Validate quality checks and inspections on project controls deliverables.
• Lead Project Forensic Analysis.
• Interface with the Project Management Team and Accounting Department to review project costs and contingency costs and support external audits.
• Experience with Construction Self-Perform projects.
• Validate the accuracy of cost management and forecast reporting.
• Experience in negotiation of heavy industrial project prime agreements and construction contract/subcontract agreements.
