About the role
As a Project Controls Lead, you will be part of an integrated engineering team and be responsible for the overall delivery of Project Controls, including Estimating, Cost Management, Planning and Scheduling, EPCM Control, Project Accounting, Trend and Change Management, Progress Measurement and Evaluation, and Project Reporting.
Responsibilities
- Develops, maintains, and reports project cost information, including budgets, commitments, expenditure, forecast, and variance on direct costs as well as planned, actual, estimate to go, and variance on indirect costs including EPCM services plus invoice management and payment.
- Manages the Project Control resources allocated to the project by leading and directing subordinates so they are motivated and have access to the required resources to meet work objectives.
- Manages and mentors the Project Controls team to ensure staff understands expectations and has the necessary skills to execute requirements.
- Prepares set-up plan, assigns project controls staff, conducts project controls kick-off meeting, and commences set-up.
- Confirms progress measurement and earned value methodology and initiates progress reporting.
- Verifies project controls execution plan, identifies trend gaps, and distributes to the Project Manager.
- Establishes project controls baselines.
- Confirms project authority delegation matrix and, once approved by the Project Manager, distributes via document control as per the distribution matrix.
- Initiates and confirms periodic reporting and meeting requirements, including content, format, and frequency. Publishes the project reporting calendar showing cut-off dates, submission due dates, and issue dates.
Requirements
- Post-secondary education in engineering or a relevant discipline or equivalent related experience.
- 5 years of relevant post-graduate experience in a managerial position and a minimum of 10 years’ experience in a project environment with detailed knowledge of Estimating, Cost Control, Planning, and Quantity Surveying.
- Experience in high-value, multi-discipline EPCM environment projects from inception to close-out.
- Strong personal computer skills (MS Office package).
- Ability to work under pressure and deliver results.
- Broad business acumen, including risk assessment and management.
- Facilitation, negotiation, and report-writing skills.
- Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to work in a team environment.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills, with the ability to convey project technical information to project managers, clients, and peers.
- Organizational skills, ability to multi-task, prioritize, take direction, and provide direction to others to ensure the quality of deliverables.
