Project Control Lead for FACTS and Power Electronics
About the Role
Hitachi Energy is seeking a Project Controls Lead to join the growing Grid Integration team in the Raleigh/Cary, North Carolina area. In this role, you will help deliver cutting-edge solutions across Flexible AC Transmission Systems (FACTS), Power Quality Solutions, high-voltage power systems, and other advanced grid technologies that support the global energy transition. As the Project Controls Lead for the Controls organization, you will serve as the key connection between highly technical engineering teams and project stakeholders, combining project leadership with technical oversight to influence project execution, guide priorities, manage risk, and support the successful delivery of complex power system solutions.
This hybrid position is based in the Cary, NC area, with an expected presence in the office approximately 3 to 4 days per week. Relocation support may be available for qualified candidates.
Responsibilities
- Lead detailed project planning, schedule development, scope reviews, and budget forecasting for controls-related projects.
- Coordinate across engineering disciplines to resolve technical challenges and drive project execution.
- Manage project risks, opportunities, and change requests throughout the project lifecycle.
- Monitor project performance and drive key metrics including on-time delivery and quality objectives.
- Verify HMI and SCADA applications for FACTS and power electronics projects.
- Support communication network implementation, documentation, testing, and commissioning activities.
- Participate in customer meetings, design reviews, factory acceptance testing, and project reviews.
- Influence project outcomes by enabling collaboration between technical experts, customers, and business stakeholders.
- Ensure compliance with applicable external and internal regulations, procedures, and guidelines.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical discipline.
- 4 to 7 years of experience in industrial control systems, substation automation systems (SAS), or related power system technologies.
- Experience leading projects, managing priorities, coordinating schedules, or driving project execution activities.
- Knowledge of HMI, SCADA, industrial communications, and networked control systems.
- Familiarity with cybersecurity concepts, quality processes, and project management principles.
- Strong communication, collaboration, and stakeholder management skills with the ability to work independently in a highly technical environment.
