Project Architect - Industrial Buildings

About the role

Join a Top 10 global integrated design firm in our Buildings practice, which provides Architecture, Buildings Engineering, and Interior Design services with a long history and deep commitment to the education sector. Our Buildings Group is seeking a Project Architect – Industrial Buildings to develop elevations, sections, 3D renderings, and architectural details for Industrial projects, including warehouse & cold storage facilities and advanced manufacturing facilities. You will assist on innovative and creative new prototypes designed with sustainable products and green architecture sensibilities.

Responsibilities

• Assist in the planning, organization, and direction of work throughout the project lifecycle.
• Develop designs through sketches, physical models, electronic models, diagrams, massing studies, and other visual formats.
• Utilize BIM technologies to create three-dimensional models of buildings and their components.
• Participate in design critiques and pin-ups.
• Interpret and apply building codes and requirements of regulatory agencies.
• Prepare and revise documentation in various architectural phases, including site plans, floor plans, building elevations, sections, and details.
• Participate in the bidding and negotiation phase and prepare addenda.
• Review shop drawings and submittals, respond to RFIs, prepare site observation reports, and handle other contract administration tasks.
• Lead project coordination and meetings with internal team members, external consultants, owners, contractors, and sub-contractors.
• Participate in client project requirement meetings, value analysis, and basic cost estimating.
• Assist in the preparation of project specifications and coordinate them with construction documents.
• Participate in constructability reviews.
• Conduct quality assurance and quality control on projects.
• Ensure work conforms to project budget, schedule, and overall work planning.
• Plan, organize, and direct work to successfully deliver projects to clients.
• Develop and manage project budgets, schedules, and work plans to meet financial targets.
• Keep the Principal in Charge informed of progress, deadlines, and deliverables.
• Lead the client and project team to ensure the design meets the client’s budget, schedule, program, and intent.

Requirements

• Passionate about design.
• Requisite knowledge and application of accessibility codes and applicable building codes.
• Detailed understanding of all phases of architectural document production and the relationship between drawings and specifications.
• General knowledge of building construction systems, means and methods, materials, and industry standards.
• Ability to conduct space planning, block planning, and adjacencies in coordination with building programs.
• Proficiency in developing floor plans, wall sections, and details.
• Ability to check work for accuracy and completeness and manage time to meet project budgets and schedules.
• Ability to collaborate in a project team setting through all phases of architectural document production.
• Engage in creative and critical thought.
• Effectively communicate concepts and ideas through hand sketches and verbal/written means.
• Interpret sketches, drawings, building programs, and similar materials.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, Revit, AutoCAD, Adobe Creative Suite, SketchUP, Newforma, Sefaira, and Bluebeam.

Qualifications

• Master’s degree in Architecture or bachelor’s degree supporting licensure criteria.
• Registered Architect in California.
• Minimum of 8 years of experience.
• Valid driver’s license and clean Motor Vehicle Record (MVR).

Pay

• Locations in CO, HI, IL, MD & various CA, NJ, VA areas: $79,000.00 - $114,500.00 annually.
• Locations in NYC, CA (Bay Area), and NJ (RP): $90,500.00 - $131,200.00 annually.

In compliance with pay transparency laws, pay ranges are provided for positions in locations where required. The final agreed-upon compensation is based on individual education, qualifications, experience, and work location. Certain roles are bonus eligible. Actual compensation for part-time roles will be pro-rated based on the agreed number of working hours per week.
