About the role
The Project Architect is responsible for the coordination, development, and production of deliverables in support of architectural design. You will take ownership of the completeness, accuracy, and timeliness of assigned work within the agreed project budget. This role involves leading design efforts as part of a multi-disciplinary team, including electrical, structural, mechanical, civil, interiors, and fire protection engineers. The position is within the Federal Buildings Business Unit, focusing primarily on U.S. Federal Government facilities for clients such as the Department of Defense (USACE, NAVFAC), NASA, FAA, GSA, OBO, and the Intelligence Community.
The role is hybrid, requiring a minimum of two days per week in the Jacobs Atlanta office, with additional in-office days encouraged to engage with the company culture.
Responsibilities
- Act as the Designer of Record (DOR) for architectural design projects, managing schedule, budget, delegation of work to junior staff, quality control, and sealing/stamping construction drawings and specifications.
- Gather information, interview stakeholders, and prepare original rough layouts and sketches as required.
- Resolve technical issues and coordinate a defined portion of a project.
- Develop specifications and coordinate drawings and specifications.
- Implement the strategy for producing contract documents, including organizing sheets for each project stage and defining data organization in files and Building Information Models (BIM).
- Foster and maintain collaborative professional relationships with the entire project team.
- Perform construction administration and field investigation tasks, including document management, processing RFIs, and submittals.
- Provide staff development and mentoring for junior staff, ensuring quality delivery of products.
- Conduct project quality control reviews at milestones and continuous "over-the-shoulder" discipline checks.
Requirements
- U.S. Citizenship.
- Bachelor’s degree in architecture from a NAAB-accredited program (Master’s degree preferred).
- At least 2 years of architectural design experience.
- Proficiency in REVIT and standard Office Suite products.
- Overseas and U.S.-based travel may be required.
Qualifications
- Registered Architect (RA).
- Previous Department of Defense (DoD) experience.
- Basic competency with Federal energy standards, Unified Facility Criteria (UFC), and other Government requirements.
- NCARB Accreditation.
- Design-Build experience and DBIA certification.
- Active clearance or ability to secure a clearance.
- Engagement in the local design community through professional organizations, industry events, and mentorship.

Pay
The base salary range for this position is $97,700.00 to $152,700.00. Individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
Schedule
Hybrid work schedule with a minimum of two days per week required in the Jacobs Atlanta office.
