About the role
Goodwyn Mills Cawood (GMC) is seeking a Project Architect to join their growing Architecture team based in Columbia, Greenville, Charleston, SC, and Charlotte, NC. This role involves leading impactful projects across these areas, collaborating with architects, engineers, clients, and consultants, and contributing to the design and delivery of successful projects.
Responsibilities
- Collaborate with architects, engineers, clients, and consultants to support technical execution and deliver successful projects through all phases of design and construction.
- Translate project vision into thoughtful, functional, and high-quality design solutions while ensuring projects are delivered on time, within scope, and aligned with client goals.
- Contribute to project planning, design development, construction documentation, and construction administration while coordinating with internal teams and external partners.
- Work on a diverse range of projects, strengthen technical expertise, and contribute to solutions that positively impact the communities we serve.
- Participate in field involvement related to active projects, such as site visits, construction observations, and coordination with contractors and project stakeholders.
- Contribute to conceptual design, programming, planning, scope development, and other early-stage project activities that help shape successful project outcomes.
Qualifications
- Bachelor of Architecture or Master of Architecture from an accredited architectural program
- Minimum of 7+ years of relevant experience
- Registered Architect or completed NCARB Program
- Proficient in Revit Architecture and complementary design tools
- Assigns tasks to and directs architects, technicians, and administrative staff
- Prepares scopes, budgets, and schedules for assignments
- Independently performs most assignments with instructions as to the general results expected
- Attends project meetings and presents specific aspects of architectural assignments
- Demonstrates leadership skills and continuous improvement with decision-making, time management, and delegation
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor of Science in Architecture or equivalent degree
- Experience in healthcare, civic, academic, or other relevant fields
- Strong interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills
- Ability to balance multiple projects and meet deadlines
- Ability to adapt to changing business needs
- Good judgment and decision-making abilities
