Project Architect

About the role

Goodwyn Mills Cawood (GMC) is seeking an experienced Project Architect to join their growing team in Tampa, FL. This position offers an excellent opportunity for an experienced, self-motivated architect to lead and manage architectural projects, from concept through construction.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities

• Lead and manage all phases of architectural projects, from programming and conceptual design through construction administration
• Serve as the primary point of contact for clients, consultants, and contractors
• Coverage and integration of work across disciplines to ensure design intent and project goals are met
• Schedule and offer assistance across multiple offices as required
• Direct the development of construction documents in Revit
• Prepare and review project deliverables, ensuring quality control and compliance with applicable codes and standards
• Oversee and support junior architectural staff with guidance, mentorship, and technical expertise
• Conduct site visits, field measurements, and construction observation
• Respond to RFIs and submittals, review shop drawings during the construction phase
• Participate in permitting processes, consultant coordination, and preparation of project manuals/specifications

Minimum Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Architecture from an accredited program
• 8+ years of professional architectural experience with demonstrated project management responsibilities
• Strong working knowledge of construction methods, building codes, and standards
• Proficiency in Revit is required; experience with AutoCAD, SketchUp, and Adobe Creative Suite is a plus
• Registered architect in Florida required OR licensure in Florida is preferred; candidates who are eligible to obtain Florida licensure will be considered
• Strong communication, organization, and time management skills
• Able to manage multiple priorities and deadlines effectively
