About the role
The Architect is responsible for implementing complex architectural projects, including Design, Construction Documents, Permitting, Bidding, and Construction Administration. This role involves coordination with other disciplines and supervising team members to ensure training and quality standards are met.
Responsibilities
- Initiate and direct coordination with engineering disciplines, including guidance on system types.
- Perform cost estimating and in-depth architectural and engineering coordination quality control checks.
- Assist Architect I with their responsibilities as outlined in their job descriptions.
- Conduct advanced research, planning, design, construction documents (CDs), administration, and inspections.
- Promote sustainable design and seek marketing involvement.
- Help shape the office vision and mission, and conduct performance reviews.
- Prepare statements of probable cost and sign and seal documents.
- Oversee the production of CDs for multiple projects and maintain C&P standards and quality control.
- Resolve design issues, answer questions, and assist the Project Manager in setting scope and budget.
- Represent the client’s interests in public hearings and meetings.
- Manage large projects or a series of medium projects, including bid processes and full Construction Administration (CA) services.
- Assist in proposal preparation and mentor, teach, and lead team members.
- Prepare and present design drawings, analyze client problems, and produce design, CDs, and specifications.
- Complete projects within allotted time and budget, manage permitting processes, and respond to comments.
- Oversee bidding procedures and provide minor field assistance during CA.
- Research and apply applicable codes, coordinate with Authorities Having Jurisdiction (AHJs), and run kickoff meetings.
- Make client presentations and develop design solutions.
- Resolve technical issues, coordinate peer reviews, and perform in-depth quality control of documents.
Requirements
- Active architectural license.
- Minimum of ten (10) years of experience in a professional office.
- Complete understanding of building construction methods, techniques, and major model codes.
- Final responsibility for the technical quality and success of the project.
