Position Overview
We’re seeking a Job Captain to strengthen our in-house production capabilities and elevate the quality and efficiency of our drawing sets. You will work closely with our Director of Architecture and a close-knit team of designers/drafters. Working knowledge of construction documents from SD into permit set is preferred. This role is best for someone who is a pro-active, self-starter who is confident producing and coordinating working drawings and details (wall sections, building envelope assemblies, typical details, etc.) and who takes pride in delivering clean, coordinated, buildable documents.
Key Responsibilities
- Aid in the production of permit and code compliant construction document sets for multifamily and mixed-use/adaptive reuse projects.
- Create wall sections, key building sections, and typical assemblies.
- Create building envelope details, waterproofing/flashing, transitions, and constructability-driven detailing.
- Create enlarged plans/typicals, partition types, door/window schedules, finish schedules, and organize sheets.
- Maintain strong Quality Assurance/Quality Control (QA/QC) across the set: consistency, coordination, dimensions, notes, schedules, and constructability.
- Coordinate architectural drawings with consultants (structural, MEP/FP, civil) and ensure alignment across trades and deliverables.
- Organize models, sheets, and file standards (templates, detail library, naming conventions) to improve studio workflow.
- Assist the Director of Architecture with scheduling, consultant coordination, construction administration tasks, design, and general office tasks.
Qualifications
- 5+ years of professional experience with a strong focus on construction documents and technical detailing.
- Experience in multifamily, mixed-use, renovation/adaptive reuse a plus.
- Demonstrated ability to assemble and coordinate complete working drawing sets (not just drafting portions of a set).
- Deep familiarity with project management tools, building codes, and construction processes.
- Strong proficiency in Revit; AutoCAD familiarity required.
- Strong leadership skills, organizational habits, and comfort working in a team environment with defined deadlines and managing project deliverables.
- Excellent communication skills and a practical, solutions-oriented mindset.
Pay and Schedule
A full-time position with a competitive salary commensurate with experience and credentials. Bonus eligible.
Schedule: 8-hour shift, Monday–Friday
Work setting: In-person (Walpole, MA 02081) next to Walpole Center Commuter Rail Station
