Job Summary

The primary role of the Senior Designer/Project Architect is to create and oversee the technical design aspects of larger and more complex projects. This includes leading the creation of construction details and systems, managing submittal documents, and coordinating with consultants and clients.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the technical design aspects of larger and more complex projects.
  • Create and review construction details and systems such as wall sections, thermal and waterproofing systems, and wall, floor, roof build-ups.
  • Manage production work throughout all project phases.
  • Set up cartoon sets and templates and delegate and check production work.
  • Gather and review specifications and perform QA/QC checks at milestones.
  • Analyze and summarize project code and zoning, using expertise in building codes.
  • Maintain project schedules and construction budgets.
  • Monitor hours and tasks related to project fees and schedules.
  • Attend client, agency, and consultant meetings and create agendas.
  • Create and coordinate bid and construction administration documentation.
  • Visit sites and review OAC (Owner's Representative).
  • Respond to submittals, bid and construction administration general inquiries, substitutions, and design changes.
  • Aid senior staff with project management responsibilities, including tracking budgets.
  • Coordinate with consultants and assist in client and agency coordination.
  • Mentor junior staff on technical aspects of the profession.
  • Implement GYDE’s design ethos and project parti into all aspects of the work.

Requirements

To succeed in this role, candidates should have 4 to 10+ years of design experience. They must be able to lead and manage tasks, analyze project code and zoning, and maintain project schedules and budgets. Strong communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively with consultants and clients are essential.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Architecture or a related field.
  • 4 to 10+ years of relevant professional experience.
  • Experience with construction details and systems, including wall sections, thermal and waterproofing systems, and wall, floor, roof build-ups.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with clients, consultants, and team members.
  • Expertise in building codes and zoning regulations.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Schedule

Remote work is possible, with a utilization target of 80-85%.
