About the role
McKinney York Architects is a concept-driven design firm that connects people to each other and the world around them through engaging, inspiring, and sustainable architecture. We are recipients of both the AIA Austin and Texas Society of Architects Firm Awards and are currently seeking a talented designer with 10+ years of experience.
Responsibilities
- Understand and implement all aspects of the design process while contributing to the overall success of the project and adhering to the firm’s goals and standards of excellence in design and project delivery.
- Carefully coordinate the development of project documentation including all construction drawings and details, ensuring quality assurance and project completion.
- Stay informed about advancements in building technology and engineering systems and participate in their integration into projects.
- Participate in construction administration by reviewing shop drawings, material samples, and submittals for compliance with design specifications.
- Administer project analysis for accessibility, zoning, life-safety, and other relevant regulations.
- Contribute to project marketing efforts, proposal preparation, and client interviews.
- Lead project teams by fostering collaboration and providing clear, effective communication and direction that inspires high team performance.
- Communicate effectively with the project team, including clients, consultants, contractors, and other disciplines.
- Review work for accuracy, completeness, legibility, and compliance with office standards.
- Support the development and mentorship of staff members.
Qualifications
- Required:
- Professional degree in Architecture
- 8+ years’ work experience
- Proficiency in Revit, AutoCAD, and Sketchup/Formit
- Ability to communicate design ideas through hand sketches, 3D computer renderings, and verbal presentations
- Knowledge of architectural design, documentation, detailing, building materials, building codes, and construction technologies
- Commitment to all aspects of sustainability
- PREFERRED:
- LEED AP credential
