The Project Accountant I will be responsible for daily tasks associated with various projects, primarily focused on processing subcontract payables and ensuring that subcontractor payments comply with all contractual and company requirements. As part of the Operational Accounting Team, you will collaborate with Project Accountant groups II, III, IV, and V, as well as project teams.

Responsibilities

  • Update and maintain the GCPay Master Job List with new projects.
  • Link subcontracts entered in CMiC to GCPay.
  • Update subcontract and change order status in CMiC to fully executed.
  • Log Construction Preliminary Notices.
  • Utilize and maintain an electronic filing system, including indexing fully executed subcontracts, change orders, and preliminary notices.
  • Review subcontractor applications, lien releases, and affidavits of suppliers for accuracy and billing requirements.
  • Verify subcontractor prevailing wage requirements when applicable.
  • Notify subcontractors of missing or non-compliant billing requirements.
  • Follow up and communicate with project managers and subcontractors throughout the payment process to completion.
  • Process subcontract payments and update/maintain the Excel Held Report.
  • Process job cost transfers for material, equipment, and other related costs.
  • Compile invoices and documentation for monthly owner substantiation.
  • Perform general accounting and administrative duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • 1 year of accounts payable construction background.
  • Must be collaborative and work within a “shared inbox” system.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • 1 year of experience working with Excel.
  • Ability to work independently, follow directions, take initiative, set priorities, and see projects through to completion.
  • Attention to detail, strong time management, and organizational skills.
  • Excellent commitment to customer service.
  • GCPay Online billing platform knowledge is a plus.
  • CMiC experience is a plus.

  • Manual dexterity and coordination are required over 50% of the work period while operating equipment such as a computer keyboard, mouse, calculator, and similar machines.

  • This role operates in a professional office environment and routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets, and fax machines.

Pay

$36.00 - $40.50 hourly, $74,880.00 - $84,240.00 annually (companywide).

  • 401(k) savings plan with a company match: BNB matches the first 3% of your deferral with a 100% match and the next 2% with a 50% match, for a total matching contribution of 4% of your pay. Immediate 100% vesting in all contributions, including the BNB match. Both traditional (pre-tax) and Roth (post-tax) contribution options are available.
  • Employee Stock Ownership Plan (ESOP): 100% company-funded and invested in BNBuilders stock. Participation begins after 1 year of service (with at least 1,000 hours).
