Brief Description
Due to growth, Satterfield & Pontikes is seeking a Project Accountant.
About the role
The Project Accountant will ensure accurate accounting for assigned construction projects, complete monthly reporting and analysis, and support Project Managers to meet project financial targets. Responsibilities may vary depending on the project(s) assigned.
Responsibilities
- Ensure accurate S&P Cost Control methodology for all assigned projects.
- Review all cost and budget reporting for accuracy prior to reporting to BU leadership and Corporate.
- Review the Budget with PM and perform any budget transfers required.
- Review Job Cost Detail and assist the PM with monthly MA preparation.
- Add project phase codes per the GMP, budget, and/or change order requirements.
- Reclassify any costs coded to the incorrect phase code or project.
- Audit the monthly contingency, allowance, and buyout logs to ensure the system and owner billings reconcile.
- Resolve any accounting discrepancies with Subcontracts, MSA Agreements, and PO’s.
- Enter change order transactions and reconcile all project-related accounts for General Requirements and General Conditions (S&P SP, Greco, Westway, JLG, etc.).
- Audit final job costs for project closeout – ensure all change orders have been issued and executed.

Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field of study is preferred.
- 5+ years of accounting experience in construction or related industry with project accounting.
- Physical Activities And Requirements: May require lifting and carrying light loads, 10 or more pounds (e.g., boxes, small equipment, materials) and stooping or kneeling (e.g., filing documents in lower file drawers, picking up items from floor, or removing and replacing items on lower shelving).
- Activities include extended periods of sitting, movement, and extensive work at a computer and phone.
Qualifications
- Strong manual dexterity for the use of common office equipment (e.g., computers, mobile devices, copiers, etc.).
Skills
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
- Experience with construction accounting software.
- Excellent communication and organizational skills.
