Essential Functions and Responsibilities
- Develop tooling design concepts based on requirements from product engineering and manufacturing using SolidWorks.
- Complete dimensional, metallurgical, and functional analysis to predict tooling function and life.
- Perform detail design of tooling components and assemblies.
- Define manufacturing methods and tooling.
- Debug prototype or pre-production tooling.
- Support new product production implementation.
- Cook with material, fabrication, and design issues with tooling vendors.
- Demonstrate commitment to continuous improvement through performance and results.
- Take initiative to resolve tooling issues independently.
- Facilitate resolution of tooling issues with production teams.
- Ensure adherence to quality and department standards.
Education & Experience
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Metallurgical Engineering, or related field required.
- Minimum 5 years in metal working industry.
- Record of achievement in tooling design and testing.
- Experience in high precision metal forming, product and process failure analysis.
- Demonstrated record of achievement in problem solving.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Technical Skills: Proficient in SolidWorks and various design drafting programs. Proficiency in Deform manufacturing CAE software preferred. Skilled in personal computers with emphasis on analytical and design software.
- Functional Skills: Expertise in metal forming, tooling design, prototyping, debugging, and manufacturing implementation. Ability to conduct dimensional, metallurgical, and functional analysis.
- Behavioral Skills: Strong problem-solving skills with proven achievements. Initiative to resolve issues independently without supervision. Commitment to continuous improvement and quality standards.
