Program Support Specialist - Educator Certification

Salary: $37,200 (base salary; eligible for years-of-service adjustments or shift differentials)

About the role

Educator Certification issues educator certificates to all educators who work in the state’s school systems, as well as assisting with the review of certificate-holders who are charged with misconduct.

Responsibilities

• Work as a certification call center representative responsible for answering calls and assisting with inquiries
• Evaluate transcripts and enter required data into Educator Certification system database
• Assess and assign all certification applications to appropriate staff for processing
• Serve as assistant manager of the certification call center
• Assist with the processing of application payments, refunds, and transactional reports with certification vendor
• Open and process incoming educator certification mail
• Scan and file all documentation received from educators
• Answer and direct certification telephone calls and correspondence to appropriate staff
• Collect, verify, and enter data for issuance of educator certificates
• Answer e-mail inquiries from educators, school administrators, university/college staff and others regarding certification requirements, content area specifications, rules, and regulations
• Assist in greeting office visitors, ascertain purpose of visits, furnish general information, gather and relay information
• Provide assistance to school districts, universities/colleges, and individuals on status of educators’ certificates
• Independently prioritize work, and initiate corrections and/or requests for additional information
• Demonstrate regular, reliable, and engaged attendance

Requirements

• Graduated from high school or High School Equivalency
• One or more years’ experience in clerical or secretarial work
