Key Responsibilities
- Print Shop & Social Entrepreneurship — Primary:
- Help Run the Print Shop: Keep print jobs moving from order to delivery—including intake, production, quality checks, and handoff—while working alongside the President and Director.
- Supervise Student Volunteers: Help recruit, train, schedule, and mentor the student volunteers who staff the shop and earn service hours.
- Track Volunteer Hours: Accurately verify and document each student’s service hours and provide the completion records they submit to their schools.
- Manage Orders & Revenue: Handle print orders, customer communication, pricing, and fulfillment so the shop delivers on time and earns revenue for FDI.
- Equipment & Supplies: Keep equipment running, supplies stocked, and the shop organized, safe, and welcoming to students.
- Teach Real-World Skills: Make the shop a place where students build real job skills, professionalism, and confidence.
- Program Support & Collaboration:
- Program Assistance: Assist Program Managers and the Director with FDI’s student and educator programs when the shop schedule allows.
- Event & Logistics Help: Produce printed materials and resources for camps, clinics, and events, and help with setup and logistics as needed.
- Collaboration: Work closely with the President, Director, and program team, bringing ideas and following through reliably.
Qualifications
- Candidate Background:
- Interest or experience in small business, operations, printing and production, retail, or hospitality is a plus.
- Experience mentoring, coaching, tutoring, or leading younger students is a strong plus.
- Experience:
- Some experience coordinating people, tasks, or orders. Experience gained through a job, club, team, or project all counts.
- Comfortable working hands-on with equipment, or a fast learner who is not afraid to figure things out.
- Genuinely enjoys working with young people and wants their work to have an impact.
- No printing background is required. FDI will train the right, dependable person.
Skills & Competencies
- Friendly and clear communicator with students, customers, and staff.
- Organized and detail-oriented, with the ability to juggle orders, schedules, and deadlines.
- Self-motivated and hands-on; willing to roll up their sleeves alongside student volunteers and FDI leadership.
- Comfortable with Google Workspace and quick to learn new tools and equipment.
- Genuine interest in student mentorship and the FDI mission.
