Program Supervisor, School-Age-Edmonds School District
Grade 14. Hiring range: $24.00–$29.40/hr, depending on experience. Must be 21 years or older to apply.
About the role
As the Program Supervisor of our Year-Round Youth Development Programs, you will lead and develop before- and after-school staff during the school year and day-camp staff in the summer. You will serve on an engaging, dynamic team, ensuring planning and implementation of developmentally appropriate activities and curriculum for participants. You will oversee a safe, high-quality child-care program, providing day-to-day support and overall site management. Supervisors start August 17 at one of the following locations: Westgate Elementary, Chase Lake Elementary, Sherwood Elementary, or College Place Elementary.
Schedule
Full-time, onsite. Monday–Friday, 6:45 a.m.–start of school and end of school–6:00 p.m. Administrative hours are provided; AM shifts vary based on program need. Supervisors work 35–40 hours per week in a combination of administrative and in-ratio hours. You will be based at one location but may be asked to support or substitute at nearby sites as needed.
Responsibilities
- Ensure planning and implementation of culturally relevant, developmentally appropriate activities within the curriculum.
- Oversee the quality and completion of all program plans, including lesson, behavior, and event plans.
- Hire, train, supervise, and evaluate child-care site staff and volunteers; conduct professional-development planning.
- Lead staff meetings and organize trainings.
- Maintain required staff/child ratios.
- Communicate professionally and confidentially with parents/guardians through newsletters, individual conversations, and parent/teacher conferences.
- Follow YMCA policies and procedures for medical and disciplinary situations, child-abuse prevention, and emergency procedures.
- Maintain professional relationships with families, school personnel, and the community; may plan and conduct parent events.
- Maintain required child/staff ratio and provide direct supervision to a group of children.
- Keep required records according to YMCA and Department of Early Learning (DEL) standards: attendance, immunization, registration, accident reports, discipline records, and fire-evacuation records.
- Recruit new enrollments and partner with school staff and administration.
- Manage site supplies, ensuring classrooms are developmentally appropriate in appearance, décor, and cleanliness.
- May supervise a group of children to ensure their health, safety, and positive experience.
- Purchase, prepare, and serve snacks.
- Attend required staff meetings and trainings.
- Assist with developing and monitoring department budgets and manage the site budget.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Three or more years of experience working with children in camps, childcare, tutoring, or nannying.
- One or more years of supervisory experience.
- High school diploma or equivalent; completion of 30 credits of 100-level or above college coursework.
- 21 years of age or older.
- Ability to model and demonstrate Y values: caring, respect, responsibility, and honesty.
- Experience planning and implementing group activities.
- Pre-employment TB test and MMR vaccination required (provided at no cost).
Preferred Qualifications
- Knowledge of and experience with diverse populations (language, culture, race, physical ability, sexual orientation, etc.).
- Ability to speak a language in addition to English.
- 45 credits of 100-level or above college coursework.
- Previous experience in school-age care programs and summer day camps.
