About the role

As a Program Manager at Marotta Controls, you will lead multiple aerospace and military engineering and manufacturing IPD teams through design, development, qualification, and LRIP production phases. You will act as the primary point of contact for customers during these phases, performing project planning, progress measurement, scope control, and status reporting to executive management and customers. This role also involves business development activities and coordinating initiatives across assigned market segments.

Responsibilities

  • Grow commercial relationships with new private companies in the space-launcher market.
  • Ensure NRE Cost, Design to Cost, and Schedule performance for assigned projects (shared with functional department leadership).
  • Maintain customer satisfaction for assigned projects.
  • Create and release project Work Breakdown Schedules.
  • Maintain project Integrated Master Schedules.
  • Facilitate all IPD Team meetings, document minutes, and maintain Action Item Lists.
  • Review and create labor and material plans and cost reports.
  • Control project scope and resolve coordination issues related to cost, schedule, and technical performance.
  • Escalate issues that cannot be resolved at the project team level.
  • Maintain project NRE expenditures to within 10% of BAC.
  • Ensure on-time delivery of major milestones to within 2 weeks of baseline.
  • Identify opportunities to grow business content with associated project customers.
  • Identify new or synergistic business opportunities in the associated market segment.
  • Support significant proposals with related PMO inputs and scrub proposal Bases of Estimate.
  • Act as the voice of the customer within Marotta, ensuring the highest level of customer satisfaction.
  • Identify existing and evolving customer needs to expand current and new product offerings.
  • Meet or exceed assigned sales targets/quotas to ensure company volume and profitability goals.
  • Detect risks early and demonstrate the highest ethical standards.
  • Bring initiatives and activities to closure in a timely manner through effective interaction with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Maintain and elevate relationships with Business Development, Engineering, Operations, Customer Service, and other facets of the company.
  • Abide by all safety, quality, housekeeping, and company policies/procedures to ensure compliance with regulatory and internal system requirements.
  • Contribute to a positive and cooperative work environment through effective communication at all levels.
  • Actively participate in team meetings and improvement initiatives to provide constructive recommendations.
  • Consistently demonstrate commitment to company values.
  • Keep management informed of area activities and significant problems.
  • Assume responsibility for related duties as required or assigned.
  • Ensure work areas are clean, secure, and well-maintained.
  • Complete special projects and miscellaneous assignments as required.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in an engineering, science, or business discipline.
  • 2–5 years of relevant program management experience in aerospace and/or military mechanical and/or electrical component and/or systems engineering design, development, and manufacturing.
  • Understanding of basic project management principles, such as those promoted by the Project Management Institute.
  • Exemplary verbal and written communication skills for interactions with all levels of personnel, vendors, suppliers, and customers.
  • High computer literacy with expertise in MS Office/PC and demonstrated experience with applicable systems and programs.
  • Must be a U.S. citizen.

Previous experience in the Space industry is preferred.

Work Environment

This role operates in both a professional office environment and a manufacturing/machine shop environment. Standard office equipment such as computers, phones, and photocopiers will be used, along with appropriate personal protective equipment (e.g., eye, hearing, and foot protection) as required. Some travel is expected for this position (15–20%).

Physical Requirements

  • Regularly required to see, talk, and hear.
  • Frequently required to reach and lift with hands and arms, and use hands to finger, handle, or feel.
  • Regularly required to stand, sit, walk, bend, turn, and move about the facility.
  • May be required to lift, push, pull, or move items weighing up to 25 pounds (e.g., for shipping, trade show prep).

This position is located at our Parsippany, NJ office.

Pay

$130,000 – $170,000 per year, plus a quarterly bonus.
