About the role

The Stanford Doerr School of Sustainability seeks an exceptional candidate to serve as the Energy Equity & Just Transitions Program Manager. This position is part of the Precourt Institute for Energy, focusing on integrating energy equity and just transitions into education, research, and organizational development.

Responsibilities

  • Design and manage activities that advance program aims in education, research, and organizational development, such as faculty workshops, Institute convenings, summer fellowship trainings, and projects in Stanford's Living Laboratory for Sustainability.
  • Manage program activities and related action plans in a high-paced work environment and monitor and evaluate programmatic activities per outlined goals and objectives.
  • Mentor students, connect them to resources and opportunities, and help them chart a path forward based on their interests in advancing energy equity through their pursuits.
  • Demonstrate subject matter expertise in energy equity concepts and just transitions strategies and apply that knowledge to implement development of co-curricular learning at every level of degree progress, including alumni executive education, and advisory support for research.
  • Develop a well-cited repository of resources used in program activities and provide recommendations to campus collaborators seeking such resources.
  • Manage and track program budget and develop budget proposals and reports.
  • Develop streamlined workflows to manage activities and resources.
  • Develop and maintain program communications, including content for the program website in coordination with the Communications Director and Web Developer for Precourt Institute for Energy.
  • Build and nurture relationships across Stanford’s energy ecosystem to connect opportunities to learn about energy equity and to engage it in their work.
  • Raise awareness and visibility of the program activities, including marketing and outreach to students and campus partners as well as external partners.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree and three years of relevant experience, or combination of education and relevant experience.
  • Demonstrated ability to prioritize own work and multi-task.
  • Demonstrated excellent organizational skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to take initiative and ownership of projects.
  • Avidly pursue continued learning and stay current with field developments related to program aims and activities.

Preferred Requirements

  • Educational or experiential background in energy.
  • Entrepreneurial skills for growing a lean program in early-stage development.
  • Demonstrated ability to take initiative and ownership of projects.
  • Experience designing and convening workshops.
  • Familiarity with strategic planning approaches and ability to connect objectives with measurable outcomes.
  • Demonstrated ability to build and sustain productive working relationships with faculty and fellows in a university setting.
  • Proactive communicator with excellent written, visual, and oral communication skills.
  • Flexible, open-minded, and collaborative mindset with the ability to ideate, implement, and iterate.
