Program Management Manager

About the role

The Program Management Manager plans, organizes, coordinates, and manages the overall activities of a programmatic team consisting of program managers, engineers, and other support individuals. This role directly supports programmatic business and technical activities with multiple weapons, product/service, or reimbursable programs for the Nuclear Security Enterprise (NSE). The manager will develop, plan, and lead program execution through customer relationships, transformation, integration, and growth strategies aligned with customer needs.

Responsibilities

• Represents the company to resolve programmatic and customer issues pertinent to program viability.
• Provides project/program management leadership and oversight to achieve metrics, quality, delivery, and cost objectives.
• Directly supervises employees, including interviewing, hiring, training, assigning work, appraising performance, and addressing complaints or problems.
• Develops and implements staffing plans, budget proposals, expense budgets, and equipment requirements consistent with anticipated workloads.
• Serves as liaison between external customers and internal organizations to ensure effective communication and support.
• Encourages and facilitates teamwork with operations, finance, quality, and engineering.
• Partners with management to formulate and implement strategies meeting company-wide objectives.
• Supports development and implementation of strategies for the NSE to enhance responsiveness and flexibility.
• Participates in technical advisory committees and represents management in meetings or functions.
• Collaborates with customers to understand needs and their impact on future KCNSC planning.
• May lead teams at other sites or interface at customer locations.
• Analyzes and interprets information, articulating observations and recommendations for technical and programmatic impact.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in business, engineering, scientific, or related field.
• 7 or more years of experience in business, engineering, manufacturing, sciences, managing projects/programs, or related activities.
• Ability to travel up to 30% of the time.
• Ability to work on-site as directed by management.
• United States citizenship.
• Regular and reliable attendance.
• Ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) security clearance (some positions require additional DOE designations).

Skills

• Technical understanding of Defense Program weapon systems and components, along with knowledge of the NSE weapons acquisition and product realization process preferred.
• Demonstrated history of successfully managing large projects or programs requiring direct customer management, executive leadership communication, and customer requirements management.
• Experience in development and production of weapon systems and components.
• Successful history of working with the National Nuclear Security Administration (NNSA) as well as NSE laboratories and production facilities.
