The Fred Hutchinson Cancer Center (Fred Hutch) and the University of Washington (UW) are seeking a visionary leader to head the Phase I Developmental Therapeutics clinical trials program. This position is dual-appointed with a primary faculty appointment in the Clinical Research Division at Fred Hutch and a secondary appointment in the UW Department of Medicine, Division of Hematology and Oncology.

About the Role

The Program Head will lead and oversee the development and execution of early-phase clinical trials for novel cancer therapies, fostering strong collaborations with translational researchers and clinical investigators at UW and Fred Hutch. They will also forge partnerships with biotech and pharmaceutical industry partners to grow the phase I program assets and advance the mission of delivering transformative cancer therapies to patients.

Responsibilities

  • Provide leadership in designing, implementing, and managing early-phase clinical trials.
  • Oversee the appropriate selection and placement of phase I trials.
  • Care for a portion of the study patients in addition to the faculty member’s standard of care patients.
  • Outreach to community oncology providers to enhance access to Phase 1 trials.
  • Maintain and expand the Phase 1 clinical trials program in collaboration with the Fred Hutch immunotherapy integrated research center and cell-based therapy team.

Requirements

  • MD/DO degree (or foreign equivalent) with board certification in medical oncology (or foreign equivalent).
  • Eligibility for medical licensure in the state of Washington.
  • Record of and primary interest in Phase I research, as demonstrated by peer-reviewed publications, grants, and/or clinical trial experience.

  • Experience in clinical excellence.
  • Ability to collaborate with translational researchers and clinical investigators.
  • Interest in forging partnerships with biotech and pharmaceutical industry partners.

Pay and Schedule

The annual base salary range for this position is from $355,356 to $380,942 for faculty hired at the Associate Professor rank, and from $411,251 to $462,657 for faculty hired at the Full Professor rank. Pay for Faculty positions is based on a variety of factors, including degree, specialty, clinical practice, and experience. This position is eligible for relocation assistance or a sign-on bonus. Other compensation associated with this position may include an Administrative Supplement (ADS) in addition to base pay.

Schedule

The position is full-time and requires a 12-month service period (July 1-June 30).
