About the Role

We are seeking a passionate and dedicated individual to join our team as the Program Director. This position plays a pivotal role in shaping the future of our students and ensuring the success of our respiratory therapy program. The role requires a strong commitment to our mission, a drive for continued professional development, and a passion for making a difference in the lives of students and the community.

Responsibilities

  • Set the example and be the role model for professionalism and conduct for program staff and students.
  • Ensure academic quality of the instruction provided to students.
  • Participate in student, campus, and community activities as required.
  • Actively participate in the local professional community to raise awareness of Concorde, enhance student opportunity, and build the professional network.
  • Recruit, train, orient, and supervise faculty members for the department.
  • Ensure faculty provide active and engaging learning experiences in a respectful environment conducive to learning, focused on student satisfaction and positive results.
  • Participate in and document ongoing faculty and professional development activities, including Continuing Education Units (CEUs) required for certification or licensure.
  • Adhere to Concorde policies and accreditor standards.
  • Ensure the safety of the department meets legal and regulatory guidelines and standards of the program.
  • Conduct and document regular department staff/faculty meetings.
  • Maintain and ensure faculty files are complete as per the Academic Dean’s requirements.
  • Assist with ongoing review and development of program curriculum.
  • Ensure all appropriate surveys are conducted timely and reviewed effectively.
  • Provide regular performance feedback, including formal classroom observations, to all faculty.
  • Advise, coach, and mentor students as appropriate and necessary.
  • Provide support and supervision to ensure programmatic and institutional completion, licensure, and placement outcomes are met.
  • Ensure compliance with all requirements of programmatic and institutional accreditors, including advisory committee meetings, scheduled and unannounced visits, annual reports, self-studies, and responses.
  • Review and ensure accurate and timely course, student, and faculty scheduling.
  • Assist with and attend graduation as requested.
  • Teach classes as necessary and as permitted by any programmatic accreditor.
  • Assist with student orientations.
  • Participate in the budgeting process and supervise procurement to ensure program needs are met.
  • Review and assist with implementation of the Satisfactory Academic Progress process, including grade audits and timely completion of student advising.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Minimum of four years clinical experience as an RRT.
  • Two years’ experience in a CoArc accredited program as an educator or clinical preceptor.
  • Minimum of a bachelor’s degree.
  • Must hold a valid Registered Respiratory Therapy (RRT) credential.
  • Must hold a current state license.
  • Knowledge of the respiratory therapy field and the clinical application of classroom knowledge.
  • Management and communication skills, with the ability to judge instructors’ competence.
  • Strong attention to detail and a positive professional attitude.
  • Proficiency in computer applications.
