About the role
The College of Health Professions at Texas State University invites applicants for an inaugural Clinical Coordinator for a Bachelor of Science in Health Sciences with a concentration in Diagnostic Medical Sonography (DMS). We are seeking a candidate who is passionate about student learning, clinical education, and the development of a high-quality sonography program. Rank and salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience. This position is subject to the availability of funds. This is a part-time, nine-month, non-tenure-line clinical faculty appointment, with the possibility of summer employment based on departmental need.
Responsibilities
- Laboratory Instruction
- Provide hands-on instruction in sonography lab courses for junior- and senior-level students.
- Supervise and evaluate student scanning performance.
- Facilitate structured lab activities, simulation experiences, and image review.
- Assist with maintaining lab equipment and promoting proper equipment use.
- Clinical Coordination
- Assist with developing and maintaining clinical education sites for student placement.
- Cook up student clinical assignments and rotation schedules.
- Maintain ongoing communication with clinical affiliates.
- Track student attendance, clinical evaluations, competencies, and progression.
- Serve as liaison between students, clinical sites, and program leadership.
- Administrative & Program Support
- Aid with accreditation preparation and documentation.
- Participate in advisory board meetings.
- Support student advising and mentoring.
- Aid with recruitment and program development.
Qualifications
- Master’s degree from an accredited institution.
- Current American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography (ARDMS) certification in at least one specialty.
- Preferred certification in Abdomen and/or OB/GYN.
- Minimum of two years of full-time clinical experience as a practicing diagnostic medical sonographer.
- Candidates must demonstrate hands-on scanning experience, ensuring the ability to effectively instruct students in a laboratory and clinical education environment.
Preferred Qualifications
- Teaching experience in higher education or clinical education.
- Experience in curriculum development or program coordination.
- Familiarity with accreditation standards and processes.
- Strong communication, leadership, and organizational skills.
- Demonstrated commitment to student success, mentorship, and professional development.
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office or comparable systems.
- Experience in building and maintaining community or clinical partnerships.
